hello forgehubbers, i come to you with a great question about sigs. How do you make those craxy sigs were its just text with a transparent bg. But the inside of the text is a picture. I will post a picture of what im talking about. I have photoshop cs3 and gimp. Thanks for whoever tells meh! :]

I'll tell you how to do it in PS CS3.

    1. Get yo text first and delete the background layer so you see those grey 'n white checkers behind the text.
    2. On a new layer (or layers) create whatever you want to go inside of your text.
    3. Make sure these layers are above your text layer, then whilst the layers that you want to go inside the text are selected, hit CTRL + ALT + G; this will create a clipping mask which is what I think your looking for.

    That should be all.

Don't forget to save it as a .PNG so the background stays transparent.
I personally save as .PNG on everything now, even sigs that don't have parts that have no background, simply because the quality is better than jpeg :p

    1. Open a new document.

    2. delete the Background Layer.

    3. Type up your text.

    4. Go to Layer>Transparency>Alpha To Selection [Creates a clipping mask around the text.

    5. Copy the image you want to cover the text.

    6. Paste the Image into the text. [Paste into, not Paste]
