I think Zune truly lacks in the physical design department...at least in comparison to Apple. If Zune could make a sleek and sexy MP3 player, while keeping all those extra features ipods don't have...they could get a larger market share. I own an iPod Touch, and I must say I don't have an ounce of regret after buying it. I love the large screen and the app store. I've never had a problem using iTunes, and there are always simple work arounds with copyrighted material. It all comes down to your preferences really, but apple certainly wins in the visual department.
I haev a Zune, and have used Ipods and all, but I prefer the Zune. However, if you talk about the very first Zune, it sucks, though the new Zune is what Im talking about. To the people that say its a brick and feels wierd to hold, it honestly doesn't feel wierd to hold at all. And as for toughness, I accidentally left ym Zune out in the snow for 1 whole day, and finally found it. After heating it p and melting all the snow, it worked fine. Its been about a year since that and I've had no problems. Antoher thing I like about the zune is its potential. Since it has a wi fi connectivity you can do a lot more with it than the regular ipod. I mean look Microsoft has already added the marketplace onto the device, and they have online Texas Hold'em. The last thing that I really like about the Zune is that, when you get one, you know you will get updates. For example: the very first Zune which sucked, got a complete software update, and now has the software from the new zunes. My Zune did not come with the marketplace but Microsoft updated it, and the best of all its free. Im not so sure abobut Ipod updates but whenever they release a new ipod it doesn't seem to be very different, maybe all they add was coverflow and add more memory, but thats it. But dont hold me to my word on that because Im not completely sure One thing Apple does better is their marketplace, its so vast and such, but eventually Zune will be like that.
If I had to get one, I'd go with the iPod, but I think I'd rather save my money for something else. These things outdated so fast, it's just pointless to go spend so much money on them.
Yea.. another thing about the zune like bartoge said.. Zune software updates whenever you sync it.. like if there was a new zune with 20 new features you could sync up your old zune and then have all those new features. Ipods cant do that.. like all the new ipods ave coverflow, you cant just sync up your old ipod classic and have that.
I have an iPod, but I might look into getting a Zune. Especially if it'll piss off my Sony-fanboy friend. However, you can turn an iPod Touch (2nd gen) into a phone. Can you do that with a Zune?
iPod Touch, if entered into the discussion, cannot be competed with by Zune. I am not very familiar with Zunes, but am familiar with their features, and the touch (NOT AN iTOUCH), is...just better.
I went 80gb zune and have no regrets. Another thing is if you download a song and for some reason it does not have the album art. The zune software will still search for the art and if it finds it the next time you plug your zune into the computer it will put the album art on the zune automatically. (best deal is to buy the 80 or 120 gb if you are a person who loves your music AND video so that way you have about a 3 by 2 inch screen to watch your videos and have a lot of room to store it.)
