I know I said my last map might be my last, but I already had the idea for Orbital and had some free time. So this is Orbital from the upcoming Mythic Map Pack. I started making this when we only had one screenshot of the real Orbital and a possible map layout. When I looked at it, it reminded me of part of Cairo Station from Halo 2. Using my knowledge of Halo 2 I started piecing together the rest of the map. Once I was working on the map for a couple of days Bungie released more screenshots of Orbital. I realized that my version of Orbital was a little off compared to the real version. I stuck with my original design and it turned out to be a really good map. So now some more info about the map itself. There are two bases facing each other with a courtyard in the middle. The defender’s base has a plasma cannon but there is a bubble shield in the middle to balance that. To one side there is a multi-leveled area and hallway that connects the two bases. On the other side there is a smaller hallway which is usually considered the back hallway. The map has two floors with a roof covering most of the map so people can’t get out. And no I did not forget the starting spawns this time. All gametypes are supported. wow dude this looks really cool! for some reason it reminds me of some of the old 007 golden eye maps, well just cuz it's closed in i guess. of course it doesn't really resemble them it's just that it's closed in like some of those maps were. hey i like it a lot, looks great for just some everyman-for-themself free-for-all slayer games. i could dig some ctf or assault on it too lol. looks really clean and organized and good! nice job!
This is actually very good just from checking out the layout of Orbital. I will DL and save it when Orbital comes out, I want to see if they are alike.
First off I'd like to say that this map looks really unique and really cool. I especially like the idea with the boxes. But just from the pictures I have a few problems. While the Crate under Fence Wall looks cool, it really could of been done up with some nice geomerging. Same with the rest of the map, especially those columns. I'm not sure about weapon placement, yet, but I'm sure it's fine. I'll DL this and tell you about it later
This map looks pretty awesome, an original layout as well as awesome interlokz and geomerging. I will DL and I hope it will play as well as it looks. I especially like the part with the crates under the fence wall, just another thing in this map that is original.
Greatly original. I love the fenced wall platforms, and the dumpsters and the crate plate forms 2. Ill try and dl and c iff i have any room, great job! To bad its ur last map lol. 9/10
Very clean, nicely done. First off, take away the Plasma Turret and add more BR's. Other than that, the map looks good. I'll download and try this out. It does look like Orbital in a way and the gameplay looks pretty balanced to me. Good job. If you're not busy, try making Assembly!
Thanks for the comments guys but has anyone actually played the map? I would like to see a review from someone who has played a few games on it. I thought about geomerging the crates but the crates are at the right height now that it is possible to hide from the turret. I thought about making Assembly when the first set of pictures came out but the whole map is sloping inward so I would probably have to leave that part out. Assembly is also probably a lot bigger than Foundry. It could be done but I'm not sure how well it would turn out. I only had a few battle rifles on the map because I like to diversify my weapon set. I find it boring just using the battle rifle. And the plasma cannon works well because its not nearly as powerful as a human turret and it is relatively easy to take out. This may not be my last map. I said that for my last map because it took me about 6 months to finish it. I really just haven't had the time to forge like I used to. Now that I'm on break I had time to make this map, but I'm not sure how much time I will have to work on maps in the future.
I like your first pick where it says "Orbital". I can read the text and I can see the picture in the background. I'm glad you didn't go effects crazy like some people do lol. But on to el mapa. Gameplay Experience: | N/A Xbox Broken Balance: | 5/5 From your weapon list it looks like this map is very balanced. Not too many power weapons and the turret isnt overpowering. There is enough cover to break the line of sight from the turret and the bubble shield always helps. Originality: | 3/5 Seeing as this is Foundry, there isn't a lot you can do with it but the 4 crates covered with a fence wall seemed pretty interesting to me lol Appeal: | 4/5 Well a good layout always draws me into the map and this definitely did it. But seeing as its Foundry again there isn't much to work with to appeal other players besides creating a good layout and being original lol. 12/15 Lol this is not an awkward rating system
Looks descent,nothing realy sticks out to me,the other orbital by cydronix is way better,i dont see how this got five stars.
I don't know if this has happened to anyone else here, but nearly every texture of this map flashes like it's trying to load or something. I wouldn't play this map just because of that. The layout seems like you could have made it WITHOUT the use of a budget glitch...
hey lol i have played this like yesterday i like the map it was fun and interesting i give it a 4/5 i dont like to give out perfects lightly lol the wepon placement was pretty good and i never had a spawn issue either
