How do i clear a harddrive

    My moms computer is COMPLETELY screwed up, and she wants me to clear everything off of it and start from scratch, how do i do this.

    Get a magnet...

    Seriously, I dunno. You don't want to erase everything, though. Some of the memory makes the HD work.

    The only real thing I could think of is using System Restore to the earliest possible date.
    Either that or uninstalling everything manually.

    Do you want to reformat it, or just delete the software.

    If you just delete everything, you will still have a lot of crap.

    To reformat it, you would need the software disc, like your Windows disc.

    um, i wanna get it to default settings, like just only the stuff it came with :p

    Turn on the computer and see if it ever says "Hit F11 (or something) to go to settings" it may have restore to default.

    Or you will need something like this

    err take out the HDD and throw it out the window then buy a cheap one

    Download a Linux Ubuntu LiveCD and run it from boot. Reformat your computer with the GParted tool added in. Install Ubuntu.

    Welcome to Linux.

    Don't do this unless your familiar and are confident that you WANT Linux.

    Re-Install Windows.

    yes,when i was 9 i did that to my dads computer,and it also wiped out windows and my dad got real pissed off
