By yahtzee414 and THE DOMINATOR CLAN Big B's Citadel is a Standoff based variant with high amounts of fun with low amounts of trouble. Choose Your Side At the beginning of the game you must be in two teams. What you do not know is what your team will be doing. You will either be defending a large air-based fortress with large weapons stockpiles with pure force. Or, you may be attacking the fortress on the ground, constantly coming out of hiding and blasting away at the castle's owners with various heavy weapons and Sniper Rifles scattered along the battlefield. Or, Mount up on a Warthog and drive into the Man Cannon to shoot yourself into the enemy base and take it by force. Attackers Usually in Skycastle style variants, you always want to be on the castle, accessing the large amounts of weapons which your counterparts on the ground do not have. But on Big B's Citadel, you are given much more opportunity to have a good offensive when you are on the ground... -You can hide out in the base below and pick up one of the many Spartan Lasers or Missile Pods in the mountains of crates. Pick off your enemies one by one. -You can stay on the battlements on top of the base and use the Sniper Rifles and Plasma Cannons to bring the heat to your enemy. -Jump on a Warthog, Mongoose, or Ghost and board your enemy through the Man Cannon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Defenders Take the position that thousands of Skycastle nuts before you have coveted; on the base. Access the large weapon stockpiles or stay in the hangar and blast away approaching enemies with the Gauss Warthog. On the first Deck you must defend the hangar, the landing spot for Man Cannon commandeering enemies. If the going gets tough, access the teleporter that leads to the top of the citadel. Also, you can grab a Sniper Rifle and ride up the Grav Lift elevator, leading to the second deck. On the Second Deck you have two major options. You can either go left and go to the Banshee and blast away your enemies from the air, or veer right and enter the arsenal tunnel, grab a weapon and step onto the first Sniper Deck. Take the teleporter on the first level and and you will end up on the top level. Here you can take a break behind the safety of the shield door and recharge your shields or strategize. Or you can take the teleporter the the other edge of the map to the second Sniper Deck. UPDATE: There has been an issue of spawn killing by the defending team using Sniper Rifles and Gauss Warthogs, this has been fixed. UPDATE 2: There will be a sequel of sorts of Big B's Citadel which will debut in a matter of days. It will be called "Battalla Point". Since no one has mentioned it, I think you need to fix your pictures. Take a look at the FH rules and it will help you with posting a picture. From what I hear it sounds promising, but you really cant tell without proper working pictures. P.S. Please don't tell him about the pictures again because its annoying to see every comment being about pictures.
Decent map in the description, you say the defenders have huge weapon stockpiles. that is a BIG no for forgehub, ill be able to better see the map when you fix your pics. good luck edit: I went to Bnet and looked at your recent pics and i'm guessing that the b# are the pics of your map? ill show you people some of the pics:
Thank you toast, now that I have seen some pics I think i will download and try it out. Looks like a pretty balanced map, unlike most of the skycastle variants, and its refreshing that its not an infection gametype. I will get back to you once I test it out.
Please stray away from those words, as many, many maps on this website destroy this map. I'm not trying to be mean, that's just the truth. This looks like it could be fun for a little bit, but would get boring, and would eventually just be a battle of power weapons, which gets old fast. Armories are never a good idea, but there seems to be many of them on this map. This just makes gameplay worse, with every person having a power weapons. This map needs a lot of work if it is to be the best map I have ever played on. I would recommend adding some more structures to it, as Standoff is a large map and it needs many structures.
Thank you, Skanky Toast, those were the right screenshots, I have now reposted my map, this time with properly placed screenshots. I apologize to everyone for my incompetence.
I have to disagree about your comments. 1. I can see that you are not used to Skycastle variants, because what happens in every game played on the original Skycastle is that one team gets onto the castle, and spends the rest of the game thwarting the other teams attempts to scale the castle with Missile Pods, Spartan Lasers, Gravity Hammers, and most other power weapons. I believe I have fixed this issue through giving the team on the ground at least 20% of the power weapons to give them an opportunity to defend themselves. 2. To many structures for each team would be what would ruin this map. The point of the game is that one team is on a built-up castle and Sniper Tower, and one team is not. And if only one team had structures under their control, then it would distract focus from the Citadel, and the whole point of the game is that you are trying to take the castle!
yeah, but only 20% of the power weapons on the ground? you give them the disadvantage of high ground AND only 20% of the weapons? I sure you have had lots of playtesting to make sure the people in the castle don't slaughter the people on the ground. and you still havent fixed the pics
Yes, I have put this map through a lot of playtesting. Second, it would be the ADVANTAGE of high ground and not the other way around. And it would be expected of a skycastle variant that it would not be 50/50 chance of winning for either team, although you could say that having the bases and large area to hide and plot attacks could make it so.
