ok so i am trying to merge a double open box down into the back right entrance of the blue base. im trying to keep it flush with the concrete with the hole facing more towards the sky. so far i have started by interlocking boxes into the one im trying to merge. then i was grabbing the one i was trying to merge and hoping it would force it downwards into the ground. so far it has only resulted in making halo very angry and lagging like i've never seen b4. a couple times i succeeded in getting the box somewhat into the ground but never quite where i wanted it. anywho i was just curious if there was anyone out there who knew of an effective way of doing this? any help would be appreciated. thanks
http://www.forgehub.com/forum/forging-101/1722-merging-immovable-objects-map-geometry.html That describes the old way. I can't quite remember, but if there are doors on Standoff (I don't think so), you can use those. Otherwise, basically what you are doing will work. You place you item you want to merge with the concrete. Interlock your pushing box on the opposite side of where you want to merge. However much is interlocked is how much will merge. Surround the box you want to merge with teleporter nodes to brace it, and grab the box you want to merge, preferably from the opposite end, or right above the tear drop. While holding the box, save and quit quickly and load back up. It should work for you, though you might have to try a few times.
no, no doors. i'd definitely be using them if there were. they really skimp you on your building options for that map. sucks cause that map has a lot of potential... and i actually was already bracing it with teleporters. but thank you just the same. i did successfully get my box in place. in the end i ended up surrounding it with bridges and using a bridge to merge it instead of a fence box. but i think grabbing above the tear drop helped and the saving quickly and leaving did as well. before i was just riding out the glitch and making halo MMMAADD!
yeah, in order to get the perect map you must be willing to spnd up to 3 hours on a single merge. That is avreage with the really good maps and forgers. Just do the save and quit method with 2 double boxes as linked above. Perfectly worde imagine what could be built on standof with doors and all of foundrys objects.
i've got the patience for it. i've spent so much time on my maps already and those don't even have merges or interlocks. i actually just learned about these things when i found the forgehub earlier this week. I've always been a forger but got out of the loop for quite some time now and standoff would be so amazing with all those objects. i've managed build a pretty nice tower for one of the bases but in order for that base to have a nice tower the other base is left with absolutely nothing. the map im working on is set like this, so to compensate i loaded the side without a tower with lots of vehicles and such. figured i'd make it into an asymetrical map. giving the attacking side lots of mobile firepower and the tower well it has its stationary type weapons and its overall defensive properties. im still working on it because i've gained a ton of forging inspiration and knowledge since coming back to forge a month or so ago. which resulted in me making 4 or 5 different maps. unfortunately before i could copy anything to a file share or show anything off my hard drive took a fall and cracked in half. so i lost all my maps aside from the 2 on my fileshare and the handful of really old forge maps i had done on my friends hard drive. im presently working off of his hard drive and have almost finished remaking that tower map on standoff. I will be posting it up as soon as i can. i might even do some screenshots before hand for a teaser to see what people think. anyways sorry about the chunk. i get excited now that i have someplace i can talk about forging and people will actually know what im talking about and possibly give a damn.
Hm, this is a tough one. Have you tried walls like you would a door? They may work better. I have used them on foundry to make something even with something else.
actually i have already resolved this problem. and unfortunately they did not give you walls either on standoff. i ended up doing it with a bridge and that ended up working pretty much perfectly.
