The Lazy Mapmaker's Contest #3 Submission Thread Alright, this is where we all shall be submitting the maps for the "Lazy Map Makers Contest #3." Now, before I go any further: If you post anything besides your map, you will be disqualified. I don't want any funny business either, something like: "Well, since I'm not posting a map, it doesn't matter if I just go ahead and post a question..." If you feel so compelled to do so, you will be infracted for spam. If you have any questions post them here Don't forget the rules! Absolutely No Interlocking (Besides auto-locking doors/window panels) Absolutely No Geo-Glitching (Interlocking objects with the map) Absolutely No Infinite-Money-Glitch You are required to use Foundry (sorry if you feel otherwise) Entry must be submitted by January 1st, 2008. Only allowed to post one map, so choose wisely Floating Objects IS allowed Must complete application for contest properly. Map MUST be competitive style (sorry, but it kinda slims down the judging) These rules are non-negotiable. This contest is to see if we can create something without the use of advanced forging techniques... Application Format: User Name(s): Example text Map Name: (Name must link to map) Did you read and follow instructions: yes/no Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: yes/no & explanation. *For help on getting your maps title posted correctly see the bottom of the page. *Note the application must be filled out in this thread. Also, if you are in need of a Non-Money-Glitched Canvas on Foundry: Then here you are. How do I get a map posted properly on the submission thread? The answer to that would be: 1) Save map 2) Put map on fileshare 3) Go to Bungie.net 4) Go to your halo 3 page 5) Go to your fileshare in said page 6) Click your map, copy the link of the map (at top of page) 7) Then enter your map, in the following format: User Name(s): Example text Map Name: (Name must link to map) Did you read and follow instructions: yes/no Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: yes/no & explanation. 8) When you post your map on the "Map Name" section, type in Map name here Note from the creator of The LMC: I'm actually quite proud of what the Lazy Mapmaker's Competition has become. LMC#1 shall never be forgotten, as it was one of many flaws, with a single diamond in the rough. Yellow. Yellow by Mallet was just unbelievably beautiful, with the aesthetics, the judges who were with me, and myself, spent a good 30 minutes trying to find any interlocking. There was none. LMC#2 is where the pride comes from, though. Mostly, because, there were a lot less people taking the term "Lazy Mapmaker's Competition" way too seriously. People actually started producing some really intuitive creations, and with that, I grew the pride that I now have for this competition. So please, carry on with the non-interlocked beauties. Whilst doing so, remember that gameplay is a factor in this competition. Questions?
User Name(s): Frag Man Map Name: Chauvinism Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: No. I take it as a challenge to try and make a great map, but avoid using glitches and merging.
User Name(s): xUNSCxHeadShot Map Name: Lateral Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: No because it saves tons more time.
User Name(s): Waffle Deluxe Map Name: Asylum Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: No because advanced forge techniques allow for some much more possibilities.
User Name(s): fabsmf Map Name: NOFX RECALL Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: Yes, I have no time for all that interweavy/geomergy stuff... but Ill happily download other peoples. Get Bungie to make it quicker.
User Name(s): J A Y Map Name: Velvet Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: Yes and no. Yes; smoother surfaces and no grenade loss. No; I'm pretty happy with my map and I feel as though is doesnt need to be interlocked to great. Velvet is designed for 2v2, it can also hold 3v3, but 2v2 is better. Gametypes: Bold gametypes are the best. -Faceoff Slayer -Velv 1 Flag -Faceoff King -Faceoff Ball -Velv 1 Bomb -Velv 3 Plots -Faceoff VIP
User Name(s):kryle11 Map Name:biomythic Did you read and follow instructions:yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques:yes, it allows more options.
User Name(s): Mastar Map Name: Zipline Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: yes, makes a lot of things easier. wether it be smoothing out bumps, fitting objects into small spaces, and creating more unique structures. I recomend: Team Slayer (Default) One Flag (Default, but shorten flag return and reset times) Team King of the Hill
User Name(s): Celestial Panda Map Name: Atrafossa Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: Yes. Interlocking is cool and all, but a good, un-interlocked map seems harder to make.
User Name(s): xcid77ux Map Name: Volcanic Site Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: Yes, I just like not having to put the extra time in interlocking and geomerging.
User Name: Felipe dos Map Name: Footprints Did you read and follow the instructions: Yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: Yes. This map's creation took about one sixteenth of the time any normal map would have, but it could just have been so much better with interlocking and geo-merging. I did, however, enjoy working with the given conditions again. Restrictions are the cause of creativity. Compatible with all gametypes
User Name(s): cOLeVIII Map Name: Nürnberg Did you read and follow instructions: Yes! Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: When it is useful, yes. I think creativity can be expressed in so many different ways. It is really impressive to see the boundaries that have been pushed by so many different members. *ALL gametypes supported!
User Name(s): Sh0tgunJ0E Map Name: The Mansion 2.4 Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: Well i actually have not had the chance to work with them much yet as i am still quite new to these techniques as well as to the hub. but i will say i am quite fond of the things that they allow you to do. and am excited to see what i can do with them. *you can play slayer on this, but the map is set up primarily for one sided game types such as: assault ctf and its main gametype VIP. (There is a custom variant of it, made for this map titled "Kill The Boss" which is included in the link to my map.)
User Name(s): squidhands Map Name: Arrowhead Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: yes, but this was a fun way to see what I could come up with the old fashioned way. Hope you guys enjoy it. No more that 2v2, and Oddball, KOTH, and One Flag/Bomb are recommended.
Phew, I'm not too late. Was out all day not knowing whether or not I could still enter. User Name(s): Linubidix Map Name: Disposed Did you read and follow instructions: yes Do you prefer using advanced forge techniques: Yeah, this was quite relaxing to build. But the opportunities are near limitless when you have the ability of merging and interlocking. Whereas only so much can be done by stacking boxes. Probably, FFA, Team Slayer, One Flag. It's more up to you. Around 6 players should be plenty.
User Name: BattyMan Map Name: Abandoned Place Did you read and follow instructions: Yes Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: Yes. I reckon that there intermergin be a might bit highfalutin for a simple man such as myself.
Yeah, I pretty much just through this together today. Woo. Username: DomiBoy_says_Oi Map name: Intricy 001 Did you read and follow instructions: Probably (yes) Do you prefer not using advanced forge techniques: Yes. I'm lazy. Only set up for Team/FFA Slayer due to laziness. Lol.
