I need inspiration!

When I don't know what to creat i just goof around in forge with my friend and if we end up doing something for a lone time i make a game out of it (minus "Attack of the Stairs").

 

Besides the obvious advertise, you should look at real life areas, or other games for inspiration. Look at good CS maps or something. Figure out balance or if your making a random gametype try to relate it to a real life game (like the NFL gametype, or CTF, etc). There's plenty to take in, you just need to look.

 

I don't know why but for me, I have to listen to rock music for ideas. Also the kinds of rock can vary in ideas. I don't understand it myself so sorry for being a bit random.

I'm not going to give you the 2 ideas I just thought of tonight cuz I want to toy around with them but as Fbu said, just look around other maps.

Another idea of mine is to watch halo 3 vids of different things on Youtube. Try it sometime.

Ii'm sorry, but I'm not going to tell you my ideas for maps.

 

Think of actual events in history. Like the Middle ages and such.

 

they usually just hit me suddenly, then i hit them back, and i usually pwn them...but seriously lol...it just suddenly comes on me, all my maps so far ive thought in school doing some really boring thing like typing the whole Souljaboy song on my calculator (yes, i actually finished the song by the end of Physics), then i just write it down and tweak it

 

Middle Ages...They had castles in middle ages...people attacked from the outside of the castle... people defended from the inside of the castle...

BINGO

See how easy it is? Make a Castle, probably on Standoff, seeing how its bigger, you could also do it on Foundry.

Do CTF, have the flag in the middle of the castle and have attackers break into the castle, steal it, and run out.

See how easy it is?

 

or just have a huge wrestling match with them, like me!

 

why dont you just make a map based off a favorite movie of yours and try to remake it on a level and just tweak it a bit and there you go, for instance take resident evil...infection map anyone?? huh huh...so i mean now with that you can make a kick ass infection on umm let's say hmmm ::thinkin:: rat's nest and hav it that after a while certai areas get blocked off and the humans get cornered while they have to fight off the never ending swarm of zombies wanting human flesh....mind you this jus came to me and im half sleep after playin sum hilarious games on newgrounds///but seriously i hope this helps...on that note good night

 

Just dont take D-day from saving private ryan... actually you should do a d-day map, there arent enough to choose from...

How about going to Rat's Nest and making a RACING MAP

 

well here is how you get an idea for the greatest map ever.

Steps:

1) you get something to eat that breaks apart
2) you take a bite
3) look how the crumbs fall on you plate.
4) play with your food
5) ask yourself what the crumbs look like
6) make a map based on your food

this also works with ink blot cards but who actually has one.

I love thinking of things i liked to do as a child, and then thinking of a way to make it into a game

 

If it is based off the movie, try this idea: make a way to trap the zombies in an area (or lab if it is completly being based off it). Give zombies swords and pistols. Make the cage fence box, so that they can try to attack you using thier magnums. Not perfect, but it isn't too bad an idea.

 

How about a game that starts as one gametype and changes to another. Example: Control room
