Wow, just saw the movie and I've had a complete shift. I was a hardcore atheist and Darwinist but after seeing the imagery and hearing the thoughts of the other side portrayed I have since lost my ability to accept evolution as a 100% absolute fact... Nah, I'm yanking you. In all honesty, that movie was awful. Anyone think it was good or would like to debate the arguments they presented?
Junk This movie is shaving IQ points from it's viewers. It is propaganda, and should have gone directly to DVD. Here are Ben Stein's Claims: The main thing I take offense to is the claim that without God, or an intelligent designer, life is purposeless and random. That claim is unscientific and purposely misleading. It is meant to invoke an emotional response from the reader, specifically: "If I don't believe in Intelligent Design my life has no meaning. I won't spend too much time debunking this crap, as many other people have already done it much better than I. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwywMP4Sxgo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztejNZIZdsU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K65wuHKbIfo&feature=related Link to website addressing all false claims made in the movie: Expelled Exposed: Why Expelled Flunks
I personally think that people who believe in creationism are people who do not look at all the facts first. It has been almost proven that evolution did occur so why are they so complacent with God having to be the person to create everything. Why couldn't it be that God set up laws that then work together and can be mathematically proven, yet he does not interfere with everyday life? I personally do not believe in God so yes you could say that I have a bias but it just annoys me when people force ideas upon another. That is why I strongly dislike every religion and what they stand for.
It's an incredibly long read, but Roger Ebert (of all people) pwns the hell out of Ben Stein and this movie. The article is here if you want to read it. I may check the movie out at some point on Netflix when it comes out just to get angry at the stupidity of illogical humans.
I believe the ones before me have said it better. Like your sig, and my favorite Instead of blindly accepting something, one must seek the truth.
