Since the second generation of the iPod Touch was released, my school has began to crack down on people using the device (along with iPhones) to connect to the school's Wi-Fi network and getting on the internet. They've managed to pinpoint the device down to the classroom, so I can't just play innocent.

There's an app on the app store that gives the touch fresh proxies daily, but I've never used proxies before and don't know if they would be able to avoid detection.

I would prefer if you are right on it, as I could get suspended if caught.

(Somehow, somewhere, nemi already knows the answer)

Hmmm, do you know what the app is called?
I can try and test it on my network tomorrow if you like?

    This won't

It will still show some MAC address (the ipods) connecting to the network. This will be impossible to get around, sorry.

Your school is still kinda behind compared to mine...

Damn, they've got security stuff blocking you all over the place.

I bet some people can still get past it though, I just don't bother even worrying about it.

lol. That sucks. There's no w-fi at my school, but if there was it wouldn't matter. They would let us on, I think.

Darn. And it won't work, but I'll tell you what the app is called, but it's $4.99 I think. Let me go look it up.

Whoa actually, if you get a MAC address spoofer + find out the MAC adress of some laptop in the school it could work.

I'm not sure if it's actually legal though...

    Nothing ever is legal.

In fact, some of the best things in life are not legal.

Getting the mac address of a laptop wouldn't be hard
The mac address comes up when we turn on the computer.
Idk if there is a mac address spoofer though. It would have to be jailbroken obviously

It's not the MAC address. Any device you use to connect to the internet now days broadcasts a packet that basically says, "HEY! I'M A ****ING IPOD TOUCH CONNECTING TO YOUR NETWORK!" Your school's IT department is probably searching specifically for these packets in their logs.

There are a few ways around it, but that would require that every person who wants to use the WiFi to have to also do this. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible with a iPod Touch.

Here's my suggestion. Meet up with a bunch of people you know who uses their iTouch/iPhones at school. Explain to them what I said above, then offer them a third solution.
You're going to need a 3g card+plan (or some other way to get Internet access), a WiFi router, and a room you can hide this stuff in. (Or, if you want to be more portable, look around for some solar panel bags and wire it up with a battery backup and an AC convertor. Might be a little hard and expensive though.)

You're going to want to try to split up the cost of these materials as much as possible. The plan for the internet access is going to be the costliest, though. Clearwire, as from what I know, is $20 a month for broadband-type service. If you can get more than 20 people, you can probably pay less than a dollar a month, although the plan might kill you guys (2 year contract =/= fun).

Basically, you need to disconnect from their system. You stay on their WiFi, you have to obey their rules. You make your own, you own it.

Edit: lol, didn't see that note at the end of the OP
