Sandrace is a map designed for Rocket Race on Sandtrap. I spent long time configurating the goals and balancing the gameplay. Sandrace includes 8 mongooses, two for each team. This map will show you what it looks like: Blue stands for spawns/two mongooses Red stands for a goal This map is designed for tactical, balanced and fun gameplay. Only very few times you can score two goals in a row without good driving. (The opposite: Avalanche Speed: Almost during each game you can score 3 times in a row just by holding the forward button) Now: let the pics speak: This goal is positioned at the top of the shorter building. Depending on where you come from, you can drive up there very fast (West), medium (North East) or rather slow (South East). This goal is positioned at the South East end of the map. Make sure not to drive against these boxes-you may get killed by mines. This goal covers the middle line of the total longer building. You may turn around on top of it or just jump. However, you can only score this point from East, and you pople who do not score there have a small advantage for scoring the next one. This one is located at the very South of the map. It adds distance and also the need of tactical movement to the game. This goal is located East of the long building. It is very easy to reach and often scored by shooting another mongoose out of your way. Mongooses meet there very often; especially you aiming with the bazooka is important here, just like the one South on it (no screenshot) You can score this one from both buildings or, if you are very lucky, by shooting yourself off the ground. By scoring it, you will lose speed, and often, your mongoose turns around. It gives others a greater chance of scoring the next one and/or shooting you. At this goal, you mostly meet all other teams at once. Coming from all directions, people try to score. If you are east of it when it appears, do not try to drive over the building, but try to drive South of the long building. You will reach it faster and do not lose speed. Notes: There are more goals, but I did not take enough screenshots, because the thread would have been too big. Just look at the map to see their position. (The one that always spawns first is located at the ground between the two buildings) Although there are teleporters on the map, you can not use them; receivers only. Gametype: Use the normal Rocket Race gametype with the following changes (very important!) Point limit 15, not 10. Goal Spawning in a sequence, not random. Special thanks: Deathtoll, Public Servent, and everyone else who tested it with me Spartan Fatifer for making suggestions for the spawning Marvster for helping me not to get bored and deleting everything else on the map. (He found those two plasma grenades I searched for ten minutes!) F20 vs N22 for his first look at the map. SpartanDan for finding a scoring problem with one goal. Coming out of grey dust grabbing your 'goose Thank You for reading; and here it is: Download link: Bungie.net : Bungie Online : Halo 3 File Details
This looks very nice... i like how you have brought the much needed skill to the terrible made maps bungie dishes out... nice work... I really like how the goals are postitioned... i would have like to see more forging... if you no wat i mean... maybe give your own obstacle or add a way to get somewhere quick... none the less... im no expert on creating racing maps... and this looks like it would be very fun to play... 5/5 overall... nice work and keep them coming i always wanted better racing maps on unfoundry maps... nice
Thanks for nice comment, but about own obstacles/ways: Obstacles slow the game down. It is no fun to get stuck somewhere. Also, selfmade ways mostly make you slower if it is not well forged, and since Sandtrap has no bridges/doubleboxes etc... you know what I mean. Thanks anyways.
Looks great, but two pics are exactly the same. When I get my xbox back, this will be que'd, and definately played
Interesting layout of goals. It's not just your typical circular, right-side-up goals. Kudos to you on that one.
I have to agree with chombie, the layout is pretty well placed and how the goals are vertical and horizontal makes it very original, otherwise nice job.3.965849474846/5
Looks better than Sandtrap Speed. I like the goal on top of the main obelisk thing. How many of the goals are outside of the map? On one of the pictures it looks like you've put in an anti-walk-into-the-checkpoint system. Love the last picture!
Ahh yes very nice. I played this with you earlier and you were like, what did you think? And I was like "dude can I have party leader so I can erase the official one and save that one?" But seriously this is alot more fun the the Bungie sandtrap race. The goals are in great positions and gameplay reflects in there greatness. If you like Rocket Race you will love this. 5/5
Good job on the map. The goal points look alot more interesting than bungie's blandness. I'm downloading as we speak, to replace Speed Trap on my hardrive =]
Sandrace analysis Sandrace Honestly, i've never got into the rocket race gametype before myself, could be something do with having lame team-mates, but still, as far as rocket race goes, this is the best i've seen out of them all. Obviously the map is just empty apart from bits and bobs, but the layout and design of the destinations are very clever, each think one step ahead, and what blows me away about this map is the post. You've set it all up in a way that describe every detail about the map & variant, you've included tips, you've got enough screenshots and action shots to explain what's going on, and you've explained everything with upmost detail. 5 stars from me, Keep it up!
I agree i like how you made the goals positioned the way you did this will probably be my first ever downloaded rocket race map very nice job. I love the map. looks very fun to play it looks like you need skill and no skill at the same time to play this map which makes it all the better!!
was this game created for the rocket race aficionados? i beleive they were having a competicion like this of a sort. and this map is the same santrap, but so colorfully and creativly made that it should definetly be submitted. i personally prefer vallhalla. feel like making a newer vallhalla too? *nidge nidge* *wink wink*
Ye maybe, thanks for the idea; I think I will start one after my new map with deathtoll. The idea is awesome, it will blow you away! LOLWUT?! Who rated this map 1 star?! seriously, 6 votes, 3.8 average... Write something if you do not like it!
I would not worry about mr 1 star. He probably only looked the pictures. non the less this is the best rocket race map ever because of the goal placement
Dude this is an epic idea. Coincidentally, I planned on doing the same thing a couple of months ago before the legendary maps were released. now I want to make one on avalanche if your interested. I do plan to do a little more forging (only because it is possible on Avalanche) including geomerging, jumps, and using the terrain. If your interested, pm me. great map! 5/5
you deserve to replace Sandtrap Speed... this map has very original scoring spots- the VIP spots are in very good spots. I loved the one that needs to get to the top of a building and fall off, or just lucky rocket jumps from the bottom. adds a little more skill and brains as opposed to sandtrap speed- good job/!
