    My S.S. Current Events Paper

Every other day I am required to write a current event paper, based on a certain article. The paper has to be three paragraphs describing the current event and article that I choose. This article can be from anywhere, such as a newspaper or website.

Anyway, I figured that I would post my paper, since it's a pretty important topic. The source or original article for yesterday's paper is located here. Below is my paper that I wrote for yesterday. : D

Yeah, I thought I'd post this just to inform you guys on this topic.

EDIT: Also, please don't replying saying "WTF you ignorant American, not everyone is from the U.S. OMG i don't care". Remember, people all over the world could be effected by this.

Your paper was good until the last paragraph. You pushed your opinion a little to much, unless your teacher doesn't care. You also made a few grammar mistakes, but I don't feel like pointing them out. Your teacher will do that for you.

Yeah, I kind of rushed this one. I did it at about 9:30 last night since I got home a little late. However, I ended up getting an A on it.

Good paper, glad you got your A.

That's a really good, important topic. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to throw in my opinion. I fully expect the next president to do the right thing. You say Bush made a mistake, I think he was very wrong. We don't have any leverage to object to these practices from other countries anymore, even if they are used on our own soldiers or allies. The problem Obama faces is that simply not doing it anymore isn't enough to get this high ground back. "You can't torture us because we don't torture people anymore".... very weak.

I'm wondering "why did we let Bush go as far as he did?" I just keep having that question playing over and over in my mind. Why did no one stop him? Why did our checks and balances not work?

Why wasn't he impeached? There was talk about impeaching Clinton because he lied to the public about his sex life, so why didn't anyone bring up impeaching Bush for all the lies he told or the horrendous things that were done under his administration?

    It's insane.

I personally feel that no president should be impeached for a sex scandal. I mean, that doesn't necessarily affect their political skills or ability. People just need to mind their own business.

This topic is not very popular. Therefore, there isn't much talk about impeaching Bush. The average citizen would be more surprised when hearing their president was having an affair.

Yeah, but we need to assure that they're not innocent. Imagine that some foreign country took you into custody and tortured you, even though you didn't do any wrong.

Not to mention that torture is not a good way of obtaining information. Most people will break under torture and admit to anything to get it to stop. That doesn't make it true, and it doesn't make them guilty. The real guilty one is the ****ed up bastard who did the torturing, or authorized the torturing, in the first place.
