first off: i wasn't sure where to post this. if a mod wants to move it, go ahead would creating a series of pictures be allowed when posting a map instead of actually typing in the posting text box? what i mean by that is create the whole post in photoshop (screen shots, title, description, maybe a border, etc.) then break it into pieces and post them in order so it all fits together heres a quick example of it (please don't judge by my shitty 5 minute job here): please not that i know the download link doesn't work, it was just an example EDIT: wow i just saw that a yellow bar appears between em asking you to resize, but w/e the idea got through. if anyone knows how to fix that please tell. if this catches on, i hope someone other than me incorporates this idea into an upcoming post. i think its a better way to make a post that better displays the map you created. again, this is just an idea, and i'm asking if it could be allowed
Well you basically asked, so I told you where it should be. I don't have to post what I think, because honestly I don't care. Many people do this anyways, but don't have a template for it. So I guess you would be helping people who like to post their maps in a different way, just as long as it follows the guidelines.
I've seen this used. But its not rare, but for a person to take the time and do this gives me an even higher impression of their post/map. Its a great way to showcase your map, and its definitely allowed, as long as everything is readable and understandable.
yeah idk though... any smaller and its hard to see whats going on yeah i guess i see what you mean. this is one of those ideas where i thought of it, posted it, then right about now i'm realizing how much it would actually be used lol alright, that sounds reasonable. i think if this was done right it could really make a difference in the amount of people who actually read the post instead of screenshot scan
Actually I never thought of it like that. And yes I think your right, that people will actually read the description and what no since it won't be bland and boring. Thats a great point, and I suggest you go to a Mod or and Admin and make this suggestion. But set up a good, sturdy template.
ha... maybe i should take this idea to someone whos actually good with photoshop then. all i know how to do is layers, brushes, and text... pretty much nothing else
Lol true. I would help, but my Gimp skills suck also. So then I guess you'll have to bring it down to the Graphics and Arts section, or if you see a good photoshopper/gimper then PM him and see if he'll help.
sounds like a plan. ill go post a link to this thread and see if anyone wants to make a better example.
People don't read posts because they don't understand the amount of time and effort it takes to make a quality map, and because they're just unwilling to read them. They're not going to change their mind just because the post is in fancy-image form.
