This will be recognized by anyone who used to play Call of Duty 2 on the computer. I'm thinking of recreating a map called The Bridge. Basically it was an old town with some two story buildings and a bridge in the center. Under the bridge there was no water, it was basically a man made ravine through this town. So I was thinking of recreating this on Foundry, yes I know but it's for object convenience sake. And in CoD2 this was a search and destroy map and I was planning to stick with tradition I was planning to make primarily for assault. Just a little design note, i was planning on having the middle section of the bridge made of crates, with teleporter nodes under and on their sides, so when the bomb exploded underneath the whole middle section would explode. Here are some pics of the original map. PICS Yea so I was just wondering if anyone else would find this interesting map to play.
Ooooh. That looks really cool! I would love to play on that map. Now I just might try to build it! :squirrel_wink: I think that would be an awesome map to play on. Before I even looked at the pictures you provided, I could just imagine it, and my mental image was fairly close to what it really is. I wish you luck with building the map!
You can go ahead and build it yourself if you like, because 1) I is waiting for Heroic map pack to be free and 2) Microsoft is getting me a new box(my fourth one :squirrel_rant
Why doesn't anybody like Foundry anymore? I love it, and it's awesome to use since you can build walls and stuff.
Ok that ^^^ was kind of random. Anyways it sounds like a cool map and if I didn't have like 4 other maps to make I would work on something like that. However I'm way to busy with my line of LOTR maps right now, so someone post it if you make it.
It wasn't really random, if you read his post, he said people don't like Foundry because it's repeated so much.
I just might do that. Sorry to hear that you are on your fourth box already. Microsoft has really got it messed up.
people do like foundry the thing is the simple ideas are the ones everyone has done a variation of. a maze a two base thing believe it or not most people have done a blender of some kind mosh pit arenas the "bestest" zombie map ever people do like foundry but only when the person is creative enough that they dont look at a map and go "oh...foundry...yay.." in effect foundry is good only when the person cant tell they are in foundry. good examples are mackmack5's(i think its him anyway) Ultimate mosh(which isnt bad as far as moshes go Pi despite the problems that people have been whining about My matesmap splattertunnel(must be played with 4 or so people you dont mind ripping the piss out of you to get the full effect) mainly its completely walled and ceilinged maps that arent just skeleton structures inside foundry they actually look like buildings that wouldnt fall apart in real world situations. god this got longer than intended...
Sounds like an awesome map in the making man.. I like the Idea of a break away center to the bridge. Would come in handy in objective games. Put a Rocket Launcher on the Attacker's side.. almost provoking the Defenders to venture away from there base in search of a means to destroy the bridge. You should definately start this map. Ninja Monkey vanish* POOF!
I know what map you're thinking about, yes they both have bridges but that's really where the similarity ends.
Oh, I remember that map! I don't know if you could make it long enough on Foundry though. Good luck, this could be really cool if you get it to work. and make it diagnally accross the open area, so you can make it as long as possible.
*off topic* wow, i am psyched that you like my map :squirrel_hug: . this is just the push i needed to finish and publish it! *back on topic* the idea looks good, and i think it will be fun to play on. the only problem i see is people not having to cross on the bridge. Mackmack5
So I guess this means I will try to make it. Who knew so many people would want this map? I think I have an idea of how to keep the people down if they fall off of the bridge, so I need to get to work on it soon. I will let you guys know how it goes.
Here's a little overview video of the map, but since I had to use fraps to record it's shitty quality, somewhat laggy and supremely dark. The only fixable one is the darkness, just turn the contrast on your monitor all the way up.
Thanks for the video. I think it will help me finish what I can make... There is only one problem- the bridge is really the only similarity between the map from COD2 and my map. You will have to check it out sometime.
