Gametype Idea

    Slayer, but with a twist. It's supposed to be more tactical. Kinda a combination of MLG and SWAT.
    BR starts
    No Radar
    No Waypoints over each others heads (So you can't just say "On my 'X'" or "He's right behind me, get 'im!")
    110% speed (Extra strafe help)
    No grenade starts
    And the big one...
    NO SHIELD RECHARGE

    Yes, thats right, no shield recharge. 0%, Zip, Nada. This makes people want to teamshot and stick together. So how do you play without hiding the whole game when your entire team is one shot? There are custom power-ups. They recharge your shields back to 100%.

    Currently I only have one map setup for this gametype, and its just The Pit with weapons, power-ups, and some cover (Strategically placed!). 4 custom power-ups, 2 centered between the two bases, and 1 in each base. So far weapon sets are just BRs, Plasmas, Frags, Sniper, and Plasma Pistol.

    Also, each person has 3 lives, there are 5 rounds, and plays 2v2-4v4, although I've only tested 3v3.

    I was just wanting to know what you guys thought about and any suggestions or comments. Also, I need testers, do if you'd like to test, send a friend request to Qrangeremi or QUIGA IZ 12.

    And please be honest, just because I'm retired staff don't love it. But just because I said this don't hate it. Be truthful pl0x.

    That sounds really cool. I always wanted to make a gametype with no shield recharge but they always sucked. I am surprised bungie has not made a playlist for something like this to be honest.

    I like the MLG settings for the 110% speed, and the BR starts. But the no shield recharge sounds like a good idea, but the ingenuity that really amazed me is the use of Custom Power-ups to get your shields back.

    Although I advise having the capability of timing the power ups. Thus meaning that they all spawn at the same time. Or so they can be timed, perhaps every 30-45 secs. And I would also advise taking some, if not all the power weapons off the maps. Perhaps leaving only a Sniper for long range, like on the Pit. And only a Muller on a map like Foundry (Onslaught, Amplified...)

    Yes, currently on the map I have made, the ones in the bases are on 3 minutes, and the ones in the center are on 1 minute. Also, theres only a sniper with 8 shots, and a plasma pistol.

    And G043R, where can I read up about this?

    Game type Infantry ..its a GoO favorites... I think you'll find it under something he made ..A long while ago... its has a lot in common with what your going with...

    This sounds very interesting. I personally love standalone (Or almost) games that can be playable with multiple maps, far away from the original. I'm making a map that uses all of Foundry, and is symmetrical, based on a unique version of Neutral Bomb. I'll definitely set it up for this as well - any time you're on I'm up for testing. Well, after vacation at least, I'm away from the box for now. It's interesting having a mix of MLG and SWAT, but I think a couple dual wields like SMG/Plasma Rifle would mix things up.

    In my honost opinion this WOULD work if you chose your team and everyone knew what to do and how it worked, but if you randomly got 4-8 people and told them you have 3 lives they would run out there and waste them running solo through the battle.

    Its not the gametype as much as it is the players.

    as much as I like that idea; sounds very competitive and team oriented, it can be a challenge to make Halo 3 really tactical.

    Actually I've played that, and I guess it's similar, but in his, each of the players has a role. But still, they don't regenerate shields, but thats the only similarity I see. Still a great gametype.

    Alright, did you send me a friend request, and whats your gamertag? Anyway, I thought about adding duals, but couldn't think of any that could teamshot or be used tactically (Besides the Plasma Pistol, which is pushing it. I also feel like setting up a flag gametype for it too.
    Well, thats exactly the challenge I hope to take on. ;]

    Well I was feeling it is a good example of a similar idea... I mean its very similar to Swat and MLG as well.. just a thought...thats all...

    How often do the CPUs spawn?

    and Infantry has no control over a player's role, the map does that bit.

    Oh yea, sorry, I played the Avalanche one, and I thought all the maps were like that.
    And the CPUs in the center are both on 1 minute, and the ones in the bases are on 3 minutes although I am thinking on reducing it to 2.
    I am getting on here in a minute, if you'd like to check out the map, please do.

    Also the weapons are on drop spawn, so the sniper and plasma pistol have set respawn times.

    Yeah, I understand, duals don't really fit the scheme. I think designing multiple gametypes would be a great idea. They don't have to be similar; maybe each gametype could stress a new feature of teamwork. For example, maybe a bomb game with a long arming time, so everyone has to guard the bomb until armed, then an instant detonation.
    Well, you get the point. That's just an example.

    This is like Halo: CE all over again.
    Health Packs were awesome.

    I can't believe I've never heard or came up with this idea.
    It seems like it'd be implemented within the first few weeks of Halo 3's release.

    Can't wait to try this one out.

    Somehow sounds similar to Teamwerks Slayer by Cosmic Rick. And, it would probably work pretty well, good idea. Health packs sounds good too.

    Yea, I just thought about that a second ago. "This seems like the health packs from Halo 1!

    And I've got respawn areas down for flag and Slayer, I hope to get some tests done tonight. Anyone up for it? Post if you are, anytime probably.

    Sounds like a fun idea, i think it would do well on a forged version of the pit, you know changing up the camo/overshelds, and maybe changing weapons and equipment. also i think you should put several regenerators on the map.

    I really love this idea orange so I am going to keep an eye out for when you release this gametype or collection of gametypes so i can use them with it. I just got some really good ideas thanks to you. :)

    Sounds cool. I really like this idea.

    Now for my suggestion. Place 1 or 2 (depending on map size) regens. These would be a great help because of the 0% recharge. You may ot what this though because it is kind of un-tactical. Also MLG has no equipment. Just a thought.
