I am talking about those people who wont write comments on maps..etc. I am not referring to the lurkers here, and those on the bnet forum, but the super lazy people who refuse to click the 'Download to Halo 3' button and instead send you friend requests to take it from your file share. I just find this irritating, because it kinda keeps maps from gaining more popularity, and getting multiple friend requests by a bunch of lazy randos is just unnecessary. (NO EXAGGERATION!) One day when I signed on to live, i had 16 friend requests just from the last day from people doing this. I dont know how many people send me fr's and then took them away, but I still continue on a regular basis to receive many friend requests from god knows who. And when I ask 'who u?' they all reply the same answer. Thoughts, comments...?
This really was not needed, well at least in the Halo Discussion anyways. This is not going to be a topic everyone's going to be talking about. All this really was, was an ranting opinion thread. You should've just kept this to yourself.
I have had this happen to me as well, but at a time, I had to do this, here is why: For the longest time I couldn't link my Bungie.net account with my Gamertag because I use multiple Hotmail and Live accounts, and I have one specifically for my GT and the other is for IMing. But before I had an Xbox I made a live account to play Living Dead when it was first released on October 31st, '07 with my IM Hotmail account. When I finally got a 360 and Live I made an account on Bungie to link my GT but it linked to my old GT that had a silver and I didn't use since I already renewed my Gold on my Speed e cake GT. I tried again multiple times to fix this but nothing. Around the time I joined Forgehub I finally got it to work, how? Apparently when I went to "Link Gamertag" I was signed on my IM account so I didn't have a choice of which account to log on with. So one day after checking my GT's E-Mails I tried one last time to link my GT, and it worked because I was still signed onto "Windows Live Hotmail". Now some people don't realize that this is the problem so to download maps they must have access to your Xbox Live profile, so the easiest way to do that is by sending a Friend Request and then go into their File Share. Normally they cancel the friend request but if they don't, what's stopping you from deleting it? Moral of the story is don't judge people as lazy because they might not necessarily have a linked or can get a linked Gamertag.
i understand this, and accept this, but when someone receives 16 at a time, thats a very very big coincidence, or a bunch of lazy people.
How is this being lazy? sending you a friend request, then going to your file share is 10 times more work.
Just don't accept the friend requests. Or keep your friend's list full so that they can't send them to you. I've never heard about this before though.
I can't link my gamertag, regrettably, for reasons that are quite extravagant. Either way, I have to download from the persons file-share off the xbox. It isn't lazy, it is way harder, so don't say they are lazy. Either way, I wouldn't be so offended dude. Perhaps you are getting alot of downloads, hundreds, in which case 16 people not downloading from b.net isn't that bad. FYI, I send chat messages (or did, not sure if I can do so with the new party chat system) and then downloaded it. I was able to get what I needed, canceling the chat message immediately afterward.
but doesnt it take longer to actually get up, start up the xbox, sign in, go to the add friend section, write down the players name, write it again cause you ****ed up cause the players name has alot of numbers and x's in it, pop in Halo 3, click on your Hardrive of choice, and search for the players File Share and find what you need? If anything they are lazy when all they do is queue from Bungie.net cause it cuts like 4 or 5 steps from above. I win, right?
Much easier to download from bungie.net than to send a friend request. <sarcasm>But still doesnt it anger you when people want to download your maps? </sarcasm>
You have it so right man and than it sucks when they have you show them all your maps and then the comment on them to ur face
Right you are good sir; You win at everything. I never had this problem of people sending friend requests to me. But, then again I never published a map on to forge Hub. (Due to me being lazy). I don't see why they would send you friend requests just to download a map; Since just getting on Xbox Live would take more work then just getting on Bungie.Net to download. If people keep on sending you friend requests then keep your friends list full. But, look at the bright side if you get friend requests like that then that means you must be well known and your wanted for you excellent forgeing skills. lol. I stopped accepting friend requests unless I know who they are on Forge Hub. (That means being liked by others and your well known around the community).
Damn it those people piss me off. I don't understand how they can find it easier to type: GD BlueDevil on the FR thingy than to press the stupid button. I think there mostly fans though.
