I always seem to have trouble evaluating my maps and then coming up with a proper name to fit. I thought it would be an alright idea to make a topic of map names. Kind of like a map name data-base! Give us a name and what it means!! Here i'll start. I think a good name for a map is... Grand Fiasco, essentially it means "Beautiful Disaster" Hope you guys get the idea! Btw... not a good idea to post names you want to use yourself, I just figured this was a little way of helping out the community!
Anarchy Good for close combat maps. Monarchy Bases maps. Lockdown Indoor maps. Rebellion Bases maps. Just a few i have come up with over the months xD
Anything+"ation"= True Halo feel. Foundation, Isolation, Coagulation, Lockoutation(now i was funneh eh?) etc. I feel like making a map called "X marks the spot" or something, which'd consist of multiple floors of crosses, and each tier is rotated slightly from the one above or under. In the middle of each cross is a kinda mid-small spot where theres like a grav lift to the next floor. The grav lift on the next floor is ofcourse slightly moved away so you wouldn't go bottom-top instantly(or hey, maybe that could work?) and in each corner of the x theres a hole that moves down a floor, moving the hole slightly so you wouldn't fall straight through the entire whole. Guessing it wouldnt play nice...
haha I think naming maps after countries or cities are funny. player 1," what map am I playing on?" player 2," You're in LA foo." player 1, "no wonder there are so many BRs everywhere." *player 2 then shoots player 1*
Grand Fiasco is sometimes "Big Disaster". Either way, it's a pretty good map, although there are better(no offence).
Agreed. I use theatrically grand vocabulary to smite villainous illiterate map titles. Grand Fiasco in particular. I'd prefer 'Juxtaposation' for a map that has that sort of feel.
This wasn't made for people to come and criticise. This was made for people to post names up. Nobody wants some jerk coming around making fun of the things they say, and not to mention for no reason. So if you have a problem with people sharing names, or how stupid some of them are, then go cry about it in a mirror because im not concerned with your opinon, and im sure no one else is either. Honestly, I take what the main points of my map are and build witty names off of that. But if I had to make some cool names for some random general map I'd offer up: MetaCognition (actually a psychology term but it sounds cool) As you can tell general names aren't my forte, but maybe try playing off of, if not your map variant, then the map itself. I created a map called Thorian Wars on Valhalla--based off of Thor from Norse mythology; Thor, Odin, Loki, etc. all lived in Valhalla. Or were associated with it, I don't know the details. And by the way: From what I've seen, Titmar, all you do is go around and criticize. So how about offering up good suggestions in topics or keeping your trap shut?
Well said. Also I need some helps currently coming up with a name for my newest map I was working on it's basically a slayer game involving a huge pit/cone shaped area where people rush toward the center for a reason that will be reveled when I post it. Anyone have any ideas?
