XERON PROJECT A Map Presented by JSlayer7 The Ship ~~~~~~~~~~Backstory:~~~~~~~~~~ It was the year 2142, and two devastating plagues were gradually chipping away at planet Earth: overpopulation, and energy consumption. The population was increasing at an exponential rate, and with more people residing there, more energy was being utilized by its inhabitants. CO2 levels were so disastrous, that world-wide extinction of plants and animals was taking place. Wars were also further developing the Earth into a barren, unlivable wasteland. The US Department of Energy was on a mission to delay this apocalyptic countdown to Earth’s end by searching far off galaxies to investigate outside energy resources and containments. They had found a planet in the Virgo Stellar Stream, only 30,000 lightyears away, called Xeron, which was displaying levels of radioactive activity that was off the charts. And so, the US Department of Energy worked with NASA to develop a starship that could reach this planet. This became known as the Xeron Project. Once it was finished, it took off for Xeron, and arrived after a very long period of time. When it arrived, the astronauts docked and extended the ramp from the ship to the ground. They drove their passenger vehicles until they arrived at the site. What they didn’t expect was for there to be inhabitants residing on Xeron who mistook them for enemy invaders. And so, the story goes… “When looking for new energy facilities, this odd site on Xeron was discovered. But, there were others among them...” ~~~~~~~~~~Description:~~~~~~~~~~ I am glad to present a map that I have spent a lot of time and effort on…The Xeron Project. It uses only half of Avalanche, one of the lengthy sides, as a battlefield. The Ship: As said in the backstory, there is one team that starts in a ship, which contains rockets, grenades, a laser, two machine gun turrets, a Scorpion, and two Warthogs. Aesthetically, it contains lights, windows, a flight deck, a self-defense mechanism (spawning fusion coils that hit man cannons), a hangar, and a 3 turbine-engine (in the back). It is also suspended by anti-gravity holders (bottom of ship). The Xeron Base: The other base contains rockets, grenades, a laser, two Warthogs, a Hornet, and a Banshee. Aesthetically, the inside looks like the energy containment facility I mentioned in the backstory. Also, the area with the vehicles resembles drop pods as an airstation, which is done to further the aesthetics instead of just placing them on the ground. The Battleground: The area between the two bases is the battleground. This consists of tall boxes and crates piled around to give an uninhabited feel. There are also more rockets, an OS, and a missile pod spread throughout the rest of the middle. I did the best I could, considering the money I had left, to block off the right half of the map. You can get through, but please don’t do this in the middle of a game; there is nothing over there. Got it? Overall, the Xeron Project is a balanced BTB map with vehicles, and plenty of explosions. One more thing...: I did a lot of noteworthy things regarding spawn points and gametype variants for the map. Symmetric games on the map tend to be “easier” or more “standard.” In Asymmetric games, things get interesting. Different tactics are to be used to invade the ship or the base in asymmetric games. For example, in one-bomb or one-flag, you can have the flag or the bomb while in the Hornet’s passenger seat, and drop down into the ship from the top to score. Both symmetric and asymmetric games are fun, but if you want a challenge that will provide more of a twist with gameplay, try the Asymmetric games. Compatible Gametypes: Variants of Slayer, Assault, VIP, CTF, and KotH. DO NOT play Neutral Assault or Attrition Bomb. These don't work with the map. Recommended Gametypes: Asymmetric Objective Games (One-Bomb and One-Flag, for example). # of Players: 12-16 Players ~~~~~~~~~~Pictures:~~~~~~~~~~ The Flight Deck Inside the Ship The Hangar The Ship's Self-Defense Mechanism (Watch Out!) Top of the Ship (notice the openings for the other team to drop down into for objective games and such) The Battleground Overview of the Base The Base's Airstation Thanks for checking out everybody. I really appreciate it.
looks cool, but i think a problem might come up with the middle, "battlefield" it seems that any person of foot would have no chance
you might want to straighten up the bridges where the hanger is and the self defense mechanism with the fusion coils are a neat idea. are the fusion coils set on instant respawn? if they are wouldn't the game lag?
you should make blocks on the top holes of the ship that only respawn on asymmetric games. any missile pods or anti-vehicle weapons?
I'M just worried with the two splazers that the teams have. Considering the amount of vehicles that each base has, the lasers would totally defeat the purpose of them. I would have put one sparten laser in the center of th map and replaced the lasers at the base wih missle pods. Aesthetically it looks awesome and looks really fun, so I'll DL
For those who don't see the interlocking, look closer. I knew ForgeHubbers would concern over how the interlocking isn't perfect, and to be honest, it isn't. When walking, its very smooth. People who spawn or end up in the middle have plenty of options. There is a neutral missile pod in the middle, and rockets in the area with spawns. I didn't want missile pods in each base because they are cheap. Also, there is no money left, so I did the best I could with the battleground. Just letting you know. Cheers, JSlayer7
Playe a game on it. It was ok. The people that used the Splazers pretty much dominated the battlefield. The fushion coils didnt so much in gameplay. I wouldv'e liked to see me get on the top of the ship though. And I didn't see why there were fushion coils and stuff at the cockpit. It sered no purpose.
I think it would look more like a ship if you used the colorblind filter, making the boxes blend together and with the forerunner pieces better. Good idea though.
LOL! Mods, lock this immediately. This is way old. I released version 3 a couple months after this thread was made. Hot Shott completely necrobumped this...and his comment makes no sense whatsoever...
