Hey. This is my very first thread, not really about anything in particular, but i figured i would complain a little about the forge. Everyone has something to complain about in every situation, so it should be a popular topic. But aside from the complaining i just want to make known how happy i am that there are others like me that will spend 7 hours straight in forge just to try and make that one wierd corner look perfect or erasing an entire map because the main concept had been lost in a lot of clutter and non-sense. So anyway, i just got familiar with forge as well as some of the easier techniques for making quality maps (thank you forging 101). interlocking objects (most important), spawn placement, and floating i have mastered for the most part. But there had to be an easier way for all of this to come together!! Manipulating objects is extremely non-intuitive. I have no problems now, after the first few hours of touching that wall a million times i got it to be straight and didn't forget how i did it either. But you shouldn't have to create a double box just so you can force a wall up against it to be straight. There should be some kind of option for some materials in forge to "snap" into position. When you release the object in "snap" mode, it automatically lines up with a invisible grid that keeps all those "snapped" objects perpendicular and parallel and what-have-you. But at the same time, i understand the desire of keeping the system the way it is, because you can create crazy maps like gradient or others that use unique angles to create completely original ideas. Also, interlocking is a pain in the ass. But i won't get to into that. Discuss!
I don't like the fact that forge limits your creativity so much. I can't show that a hallway is dangerous (limp/dead covenant or human bodies) and they don't have any wrecked objects. No wrecked cars, furniture or walls. They do have a wrecked truck but that is to big to use much.
Wishful thinkings much? I applaud your idea, but there's so many people saying, "we want this in forge!", or "why doesn't forge have this???", and other irritating obvious topics that will not happen. Forge is already in the game engine, kids. Deal with it.
I agree. i i didn't mean to sound ungreatful for this opurtunity to create our own entire games, i just wanted to debate things that they could make better. I DISAGREE with Rubberduck E about the forge limiting your creativity. No way is this true, check out some of the "artistic" maps or whatever they are called here on forge hub. Someone made the mellenium falcon. I have to say i'm really impressed. Using interlocking you can make any terrain or obstacle you desire, it just takes some time and patience. Sometimes though, i wish i didn't have to spend an hour for what should be a simple detail of a map. But i do not claim to have specific fixes for issues like that so who am i to *****? also, they update the regular matchmaking lists, so they will eventually also update forge with some tqeaks (if they haven't already).
Me neither... I have had a few suggestions for features in forge. • Spraypaint, allowing you to change the color of boxes, barrels, and containers. • Terrain Editor, allowing you to make hills and change textures. • An actual canvas map. Completely blank and untextured, mainly for use with my Terrain Editor suggestion.
Forge sucks, it is extremely limited and is only slightly useful by taking advantage of several complicated glitches.
If forge sucks, why are you on this site? It is true that to make any kind of a good map in forge, you need to have an understanding of the gliches that can be used. But would you rather have? What if bungie gave us NOTHING. that would suck. Minion's idea of Spraypaint would be really cool. Also, The idea for just a blank canvas is good, and i only say this beacause of how annoying the uneven walls are in the foundry. Why did't they just make those walls on the side and back straight. Oh well.
What I meant by this is that they don't have much besides squares boxes and rectangular objects. Without using glitches I can't make curved edges. I do like Minions idea of the terrain editor and spraypaint.
