When i use the pen tool to render something or simply select something, if i click and drag a point, creating a curved line, that goes fine, but as soon as i try to click to make a new point after that, it bends the line all weird.. how can i fix this? If that didnt make sense let me try to explain it more simply. I click to make the first point. I click a second time to make a second point, but i hold down the click so that i can move the point, creating a curved line. When i try to click to make a third point, though, It makes the line bent oddly-usually to the inside- without me moving the point at all. Help? how can i fix this? If you dont understand just say so and il try to point it out with pictures or something
*opens photoshop to give you a step-by-step* The vector creation tool (pen tool, according to the menu) creates vector lines. Without getting into the very technical side of it, they basically use geometric equations to generate curves around the points that you have plotted. Typically, though, to generate a curved line, it needs a "tangent line" - a line that is created by clicking the initial point and then dragging. But you know all of this already. I'm pretty sure that you want the curve between the first and second points to remain the way it is, but want the line between the second and third points to be straight. There is a way! Place the points where you want them to be, where you want the lines to end up. Now, it'll have the added curve from the second to the third point, but there is an easy way to get rid of that. With the vector still highlighted, click on the button in your side menu pallet that has a black mouse cursor long enough to bring up the menu, and select the white mouse cursor button. Then, drag a box over where you have your second point to select it. You'll see the tangent line that you drew for the curve of the first line. Now this requires some precision, because Adobe made a dumb interface that you can't make the points any bigger. Click on the point at the end of that line and drag it back towards the point along the line, adjusting it as finely as you can until you get the effect you want. Note, though, that the line between points two and three won't be completely straight. The way you'd have to do this would actually be to use four points: point one with no vector, point two with a vector halfway along the curve you want to make, point three to end that curve with no tangent lines attached, and point four where your old point three was. That help? I can provide pictures if you want... EDIT: Just read your post again - I feel like a n00b at helping you, 'cause I didn't get your problem at first. Honestly, it sounds like you've got either a problem with your mouse or somesuch, or like you've got a bug in your program. What version of Photoshop are you using?
use your ctrl key and alt key and stuff like i use the alt key to set new line so it doesnt make same curve by alt clicking previous point should remove one of those anchor pulleys
You can also try the freeform pen tool which is exactly what it is called. You don't have to worry about curves then.
