Interlocking and geomerging, or pioneering new ideas, which comes first? I certainly agree with the people who say interlocking is important in a creation, but gameplay should always come first in a landslide over smoothness and geomerging. I can spend all day geomerging every double box into the ground to make a floor, or I can make a fun, yet simplistic game with maybe slight interlocking errors. Let's suppose interlocking would be taken out of the equation, and items went right directly through others, without effort, and anyone is capable of easy interlocking. Would you be happy for this change? Some people, shockingly enough, wouldn't be, just because "noobs" can create amazing maps, and "skillful" forgers get overlooked. "Skillful" is the key word here: what defines a skillful forger? Someone who pioneers a new forge idea and designs creative maps, or someone with impressive interlocking and geomerging skills?
there are 3 things a good forger needs IDEAS IDEAS and IDEAS If I see a map with a good solid idea, preferably not on foundry,I will download it simple as I don't understand people who say things like "great map,but one of your bridges is a little off 4/5" WHO GIVES A F$%£???????? If a map has an original premise, varied gameplay and it is something I haven't seen before then I will download it.
Hey ezekeil. I agree pretty much entirely, but your grammar is a little off. 4/5. Lol jk, I agree with everything, except I do think maps can be innovative outside of Foundry. So every conscious human being is a good forger?
Someone who is able to use what's at their disposal and create a truely one of a kind creation. Gameplay is what comes first, in my books. Someone who is able to make a map that offers it's own unique style of gameplay. Being able to make an aesthetic structure, a well working switch. Simply making "an epic merge" means nothing if you cannot put it to practical use.
Not sparking a fight here, as a matter of fact I agree, but in my thread "the Door Property" I believe you didn't want it because it would make interlocking to easy for everyone.
I believe you've got the wrong person. I haven't posted in that thread. I've read some of the posts in that but I haven't posted on it.
