I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but here it is: The other day I was making a really nice map in foundry, my best yet. I had used all 100 custom content, but I had already saved the map from the day before, so its all good right? I did alot of work on it and I went to the start menu. WTF, I can only save as a new map, not just save changes. I was really mad that I could not save it. Why did this happen. This was not the only time that this happened. Many other times too, this was just the most recent time. Why does this happen? And how can I stop it? Has anyone else had a similar expericne? Please Reply! Thanks.
I think it has something to do with how long you havent loaded up the map, like say you dont forge on that map for like 24 hours it will require you to save as new. I dunno but its just a theory. I'm pretty sure everyone has experienced this before. I know I have, a LOT.
It happens whenever you go into forge, and the map is the default one that comes up. Like, lets say you want to edit map aaaaa, and right when you go into forge and it's the one thats right there, and you start, it won't let you save changes, but lets say it's map aaaaa, then you change maps and change back to map aaaaa, you can then save changes.
it happens to me a few times too. same exact story man, from now on though, i just make sure i have one free custom space open just incase it happens. like a security feature. it helps avoid it so, watch out forger.
Its good practice to keep a few old versions of a map anyway, in case you completely redo a section or ****-up in a big way. In the creation of my Avalanche map I reached version 48, because I got so pissed off at myself for screwing up and saving that I kept saving as new.
Orangeremi posted what needed to be said so I'll just give you some advice. Whenever I forge I always make sure I have a few free slots left. If this does happen to you again with no free slots: Invite a friend and ask them to save it for you. Then once they've saved it, delete one custom item and get it off of them.
This was a very useful thread so thank you digger44 for starting it and Orangeremi for supplying an much needed answer to a frustrating question.
