Source: G4TV.com - The Feed - 'Far Cry 2' Goes Gold, DRM Supported When PC owners grabbed a copy of Spore (even Mass Effect) from their local retailer, they were thrilled to see what was in store for them. Will Wright (creator of 'The Sims') had been working on this game for a long time, and the hype that was created was enormous. Your own galaxy with your creatures and the outcome depends on you. You practically play God in this amazing game. What we didn't expect was to see that EA had cursed Spore with the horrific SecuROM DRM technology that was introduced on Mass Effect a couple of months back. Users were having trouble downloading everyday programs off the internet because SecuROM would keep on popping up to verify publishers/developers for certain program. Although this prevents high amounts of piracy, in all respect, it's just a pain in the ass. Unfortunately, upcoming first person shooter Far Cry 2 has had this horrible DRM technology thrust upon their amazing game. =( Lucky for me, I am a console gamer. (my PC can't handle ****) What do you PC gamers who are getting Far Cry 2 think of this? Discuss
That's good that these games are doing this now. I hate going on the internet and finding all kinds of downloads for PC games.
And I am sure a lot of people will refuse to buy it simply because of DRM... Oh well, if I get it, it will be for 360.
People will just ignore the game completely if they use that. I understand trying to get the most sales, but if you would of taken a hint from Spore, companies should consider not putting the DRM on their PC games because it pisses people off and then they will still find a way around it and download it for free. I know I would download it for free in a heart beat just to stick it to the company (too bad my computer sucks). Although I would do that, I would also rather buy it for the 360.
