When they stop before the bridge, a cold feeling washes over them as they get their first glimpse of the numerous graves that litter the island. However the warm glow of Jack-o-lanterns give light to the porch and second floor, a sure sign all is well. With a calm resolve the group heads inside. You lose two of your group but then the front door is in view. A friend in his panic runs headlong into the jack-o-lantern and he changes. You run through the door, but a spectral shape is following you. To your right, some lighters sit on the kitchen stove, and a red potion labeled 'health' lies on the bathroom counter. A few items sit in the lobby along with a rotten hatch leading down. To the right of that are stairs. Which way? You begin to panic as you hear the Ghoul scribbling at the door. You go up! You can see out of the place but the windows are jammed, you'd need precious minutes to fit through the broken ones. Minutes you don't have. Shuffling below you signals the ghoul is inside. Your friend who became a werewolf burts through the door and fights the ghoul. Then the full moon disapears behind the clouds and he returns to normal. His death scream follow you as you run around looking for a way out. Finally in a bedroom you glimpse a broken ceiling panel. Thrusting it aside you find the attic and a shotgun in the rear. the shuffling begins to mount the stairs. and you rush up. Grabbing the gun you await the monsters gase to peek up from the room. Another scream breaks over the house. Your other friends you lost in the grave yard. The shuffling pauses then turns away. After a few moments you realize it's leaving and follow quietly. You creep down to the first floor and try the door. The door that had let you in so easily wasn't going to let you leave. it's then you notice the trap door that leads into the basement. You enter the basement a little more loudly than you like. But it doesn't seem to matter, you've found your friends. What's left of them that is. Dark shapes groan and loudly chew on human bones with a ravenous hunger. Armed with your shotgun you quickly dispatch the zombies, realizing the animated corpses were also your friends, having been changed by the monster from above. Disgusted and fearful you see under a few overturned whiskey barrels a hole in the basement floor. Pushing the heavy cilinders aside you reach the lowest part of the Inn. The Foundation. Pillars that support the Inn fade in and out of the gloom. The shuffling begins again, from the very space you now occupy. It's moving towards you. You see light comming from a small crack to your right. The space opens up into a half summerged room. You twist around to see if your being followed and notice a vial of something. "Invisibility" hope finally fills you and you drink the vial down. A cold hand runs down your spine and you notice your body begins to fade from view. The shuffling becomes sloshes as the ghoul reached the water. You dive into the water as well heading for the light shining from under the waterline. When you break the surface you find yourself in the moat right below your truck. However the embankment is too steep to climb. Swimming down to the other end you find a few rocks and climb onto shore. Your so close to freedom. It's then you realize the shuffling never left you. You scream. Cool i loved story and the captions under the pics. 4/5 <---Lack of weapons(unless the gametype makes zombies weaker [5/5])
First and foremost I loved the time you put into the post and the well, story telling! The map looks good. The house looks clean from the pics. Though I think putting at the most another hour of just aligning all the double-boxes outside would make for smoother gameplay. That is the major complaint from me. The game type seems to have a good amount of thought put into it also. Very nice post, 4/5 map. -Irish
tthe backstory was indeed entertaining, and the overview pic looked good. But when i saw more pics, and noticed that you only interlock when you really need to, i was disappointed (sad-face). I can see some boxes just next to each other, and (this is just my personal opinion) but i like to geomerge any open boxes that are on the ground into the ground (though sometimes im better at it than others...) Now for the good portion; I really like that you made a house for infection (my fav type of infection map), and that you made this house rather large. the weapons/ equipment fit in well and the backstory thru the pics helped. All-in-all; i like the overall layout, and the multi-level zombie-slaying, brain-chomping action. A 5/5 for originality, a 6/5 for the backstory (the detail and great use of your pics, and action kept my very short attention span.) and the gameplay looks intense, but the overall production and neatness i would give about a 3.5/5.
This map looks amazing, but if you added in some unnecessary interlocking, this would be something that I would download and play with my friends come the 24th. I really believe that a version 2 of this with some careful interlocking could greatly improve the maps quality. Other than that, the map has a great layout, a very good back story, and some good design. I think that you had limited material, which is why the mansion doesn't have too much detail. 4.8/5, could be fixed up some.
Dude nice thought of the graves I would have never thought of making graves for the zombies. I also like the basement I'm not that good at them and the bedroom looks great to I can never get those kind of rooms made. 5/5
This map looks very nice with the use of interlocking and the back story too create a "scary feeling" to the reader and player. I would give this map a 4.5 out of 5, because some parts of the map would look better with interlocking. But don't let my opinion ruin the map and anybody who is thinking about downloading the map.
I suppose I could take a day ad add the interlocking. the real reason there isn't a lot of interlocking is this was version 3 after I messed up interlocking the floors to the ground. I was scared to. But seeing as every one is asking I'll go ahead and post that up when I finnish on this and the competition it's for. As for wapons do;t let te fact i only metioned one fool you. There are weapons all over. 1-sniper 2nd floor 3-BR various floors 2-Shotguns Attic and basement 2-AR ground floor and foundation 2-SMG various floors 1-mauler 2-trip mines 1-Gravlift 1-radar jammer. Also on the roof inpossible to get to unless your quick resourseful and lucky there is a second invisibility and rockets. anyway thanks for the suggestions.
Haunted Inn II Now with interlocked 'ground', more secret entrances, and zombie start zone. Zombies now teleport into the graves (sometimes only able to hop out by using the pallet wreakage.).
Interesting. I would love to see how the "werewolf" thing works, I'm still a little shady on that. As for the map, the second version looks excellent. However, it does seem to me like there are only two entrances to the inn: the front door and the underwater tunnel. Due to the teleporter nature of the door, camping it would be incredibly easy. The crouched entrance from the tunnel ensures that any infected will move extra slow, allowing humans to pick them off from the other side of the room. The active camo may counteract this, but in my opinion, it is not enough to fix that aspect of the map. I would suggest adding more tunnel entrances to eliminate the camping problem.
Just the very thing I did. I did add more entrances. The windows can be jumped through much easier now. I've slipped through them as have some of my friends. and a new tunnel connects the house to a grave so the Zombies can filter through without going through camp points.
lol that was a great story, loved the way you mad the map into a complicated web of ideas! im shure that this will make a great addition to someoned infection map collection someday! BTW construction 5/5, story 5/5, thanks 4 the halloween thrill
Cool story! I love the graves with the interlocked door tombstones, and the descriptions underneath each picture are great too! This whole map looks great, I'll DL and give it a try!
My last post was spam, but I'll do better this time. I downloaded it and played it with a few friends. They said that it wasn't that easy to find their way out of the house because of the barrels on the holes, but we got there in the end. This map was very fun to play, and I liked the werewolf custom power-up, but the humans were quite easy to kill in the small, narrow corridors of the house.
