    Re: Different Level

I played your previous version over the weekend with three other friends in an Oddball and FFA match. First, it speaks very highly of your map that we played back to back games on it. That never happens, especially with my wife and my friend's wife as two of the players, they hate Foundry. Anyway, Oddball worked incredibly well, especially with the setting I use where the ball carrier's shields slowly deplete. FFA was equally awesome; no spawn killing. I was initially concerned with the lack of a weapon variety, but we used starting AR and it really became a non-issue. I have absolutely nothing critical to say about this. I know it blows the MLG Foundry standard (both of them) out of the water. In fact, I'll be shocked and a bit upset if your final version doesn't get featured here. I really appreciate you going back and enabling other weapons and equipment to be played here. I've got your most recent version DL'd and am anxiously awaiting to play it.

EDIT: BTW - The link for the map is broken. Leads to a previous version that you deleted.

    Re: Different Level

I REALLY wanna see this, but the d/l link for Different Level is down. Did you take it off your fileshare? If so, you need to repost it and renew the link.

Also, Next Level, and Another Level.... Those are previous, unrevised versions of Different Level right? If so, then I'll just d/l the newest and best version when you relink it. Just to let you know though, your picture links on Bungie for both Next and Another Level are broke. I couldn't load any of the pics.

    Re: Different Level

    Thanks for the link squid.

OMFG this map is beautiful!! :squirrel_wtf: It looked good from the pictures, but actually flying around in forge, it looks amazing. You interlocked everything, even the walls standing on top of boxes so that there isn't a crack along the bottom. I'm a perfectionist myself, but that's just crazy.

It's very big too, all the slayer-type maps I've d/l'd for foundry are tiny. Only complaint is what others have said about weapon selection. I'd like to see more weapons and weapon variety. A sentinel beam on this map = pure joy. Can't wait to play this for the Furious Review tonight. Look for my mini-review from that session later today or tomorrow.

    Re: Different Level

I checked out the old version and wrote up a review for it. It concerns the old version, so some of the stuff is moot now. I found that plasma nade for you and had some of the same concerns as other posters. Too bad I couldn't have posted earlier.

I got a chance to check out this map in Forge. This is an awesome map. The interlocking is perfect, and it creates a really unique level. I really like the layout.

But the weapon selection leaves much to be desired, at least in my opinion. Was this built for MLG? I see only BRs, frags, and a mauler. I prefer variety. Bungie did a great job balancing the weapons in this game, so it’s a shame you didn’t put more weapon options into this map. After a little while, no matter what map I’m on, I’ll get tired of the old “throw nade, headshot with BR.â€

And the same goes for equipment and grenades. There are so many great things you can do with equipment. I’ll agree that for strict competition, you want a limited weapon and equipment selection. But I still wish this map had more. Maybe I’ll add some stuff in for my own personal version.

By the way, what’s with that lonely plasma grenade outside the play area? Is that your signature thing or something?

Finally, you should know that there is a bridge on this map that does not spawn at the start. It’s the one near the dumpsters on A side.

Anyway, great looking map, and I can’t wait to play a game on it.

I did actually get to play a few games on the old version. My favorite was a 4 player Rockets match. I'm looking forward to seeing the new version.

    Re: Different Level

I got to play this with Furious for a bit today. It's an excellently constructed little bugger, it is. It's one of the few foundry maps that feels like a new map, rather than a map variant. I do hate the battle rifle (I think it makes for boring matches), so the default weapon placement is a little 'meh' for me. The rockets game was amazing, though. Just enough sharp edges for a few solid suicides. Overall, though, this is what maps should look like.

Great job with interlocking, this must have taken a long time to make. Keep up the good work, this is really cool.

    Re: Different Level

I had a chance to walk through it today. Very well put together. Looks like it would play amazingly well, like a whole new bungie map! Love the scenery (i.e. lights[overshields]) Looked awesome!

    Re: Different Level

I just checked out the new version. I like the new cover. Also, those red/blue lights gave me a forge-gasm. I'm totally stealing that idea. Did you come up with that or did you see it somewhere else?

I agree, those powerups are AMAZING, but I was the colors correlated with the signs on the map. So have red and yellow powerups rather than red and blue. But thats all I can say.

    Re: Different Level

I'm not sure, but the guys over at MLG have forged a couple of maps that made use of the idea of merging powerups with scenery. But if you came up with it on your own, kudos :).

    Re: Different Level

Gorebound's onto it, I think the MLG guys did it first (not that it matters). Not that I'm a fan of the maps that are using, I personally think their bland. Symmetry is one thing, but a mirror image of the opposite side just lacks imagination. Although Different Level falls kind of in the same realm with the overuse of symmetry, the level of thought that went into all the merging and things like the creation of the angled wall to block off the rest of Foundry totally overshadows those guys.

    Re: Different Level

    Appreciate the help squid.

I saw the coloring idea in the mlg map stocks/stockpile and really liked it. I went B sign/Blue and added the OS's to help with callouts.

Going back to weapon variety, etc. I'll be working on a "matchmaking" version this weekend and I also want to put together some gametypes. When I goto v1.0 the "matchmaking" version will replace the stripped down competitive version as the main version.
