Hyped Hyped [Link updated 10/10/08] Hyped FFA [Link updated 10/10/08] [Hyped FFA has entirely different spawns and a different weapon set] Description As the name would suggest, this is an adaptation of the MLG style map "Hype". I have made a whole bunch of changes to the map which probably won't be screamingly obvious if you aren't already very familiar with older versions of Hype - but they do significantly improve gameplay! The reason for the new name though is because i've taken the map away from MLG style gameplay by altering the weapon layout, respawn times, hill shapes and sequence etc. to make the map suited to default gametypes. The goal of this is to get the map into MatchMaking (!!!) as i think that if it suits default gametypes it has a much better chance of making the cut. I've not only made changes to the geometry to improve gameplay, but in this case, to manage the map resources better and save budget in order to add the extra weapons necessary without needing to glitch the budget. Changes from Hype v2.0: Blocked off run-throughs bottom mid. Added more cover to the "B" side of the bases. Adjusted "A" signs at top "A". Adjusted "B" signs at top "B". Slightly lowered single walls at front of bases. Swapped single walls used as jump-ups to "A" tower for window panels. Swapped single walls at mid "A" tower for window panels. Removed window panels from outside wall & raised relevant double wall. Removed window panel ledge from top "B". Slightly raised corner walls at the 3rd tier of the bases. Changed weapons. Removed base indicators to allow budget for above changes. Changed spawns. Changed objective marker placements. Weapons [2x Battle Rifle] (2 spare clips / 60 sec respawn) [2x Battle Rifle] (0 spare clips / 45 sec respawn) 2x Carbine (2 spare clips / 45 sec respawn) 2x Needler (2 spare clips / 120 sec respawn) 2x SMG (2 spare clips / 30 sec respawn) 2x Plasma Rifle (N/A / 30 sec respawn) 2x Magnum (2 spare clips / 45 sec respawn) [Team version only] 1x Rocket Launcher (0 spare clips / 180 sec respawn) [FFA version only] 1x Shotgun (1 spare clip / 180 sec respawn) Gametypes Hyped is configured for all team variants and Hyped FFA is configured for all FFA variants. I've taken a lot of time setting up all objective points so they should work really well whatever gametype you're playing. e.g. One Bomb has two arm spots like Ivory Tower. Screenshots As i said, i'm really hoping to get the map into MatchMaking, which seems a possibility since Shishka (Bungie Playlist Overlord) has said he will be implementing user-created maps into MatchMaking in the relatively near future. One thing that will help a lot and is a bunch of films of gameplay on the map from different players playing under MatchMaking conditions (lots of different default gametypes with 6-10 players). So i would really appreciate it if anyone who has an appropriate film on the map could recommend it to my main gamertag (feign ii). Enjoy!
I've had this one on my Xbox for a while now and I really like it. All the structures are fairly original and smooth. I used this map to demonstrate to people the exceptional possibilities in Forge. Overall 5/5, excellent map. I will play some more games on this with default gametypes for sure, and get some of those films to you. ~Billy Reloaded
Whenever I think I've hit a high point in Forging, I'll go into one of SuperFeiGn's maps and bring myself back down to earth. The level of forging on Hype is phenomenal; I don't think anyone has ever made smoother transitions when it comes to running on merged objects. I'm quite sure Hyped won't be any different. I'll be really surprised if I don't see some version of this in H3 MM when it gets implemented.
Agreed with Squid. It really impresses me the complete perfection of your interlocking. Now I'm just looking at the pics, but seriously, it looks great. If your goal is to get this into matchmaking, then this would be the perfect one. Phenomenal job on this map.
This map looks beautiful based on the pics, and obviously it should still play like your original version correct? If so I won't bother with a Forgethrough and some opinions yet, but if there are significant changes let me know and I will definitely get a game on this. Either way I will be DLing. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Shishka said he would immediately dismiss any maps that contain merging or interlocking for consideration in MM.
What?!! When was this; I read a couple of weeks ago where he said that interlocking was fine as long as the flicker (z-fighting, I believe he called it) between the merged objects wasn't too harsh.

Wow this map has one one of the best layouts I ahve seen for MLG. Plus I can see how much time was put into this because when you look at the pics you can see how clean the interlocking and geomerging is. If I could make one suggestion I would put like a barrier in the middle of the map in between the double boxes just because it looks very open in that area. Very Good Job on this map 9.7/10
This map seems more designed for MLG type gameplay rather than normal competitive but regardless it is a well designed and smooth map. And regarding how you want this in matchmaking, make sure you don't use infinite money. Shishka has clearly stated that maps using the infinite money glitch will be disqualified from submission.
nice map man it is open and al that also it has a lot of cover for a open map. i like it and ill bownload if i have space for it. but i dont like a lot of maps but this takes me back to the maps i use to make. no i do some other (bad) type of maps but bock to yours i like how you geo morphed the walls in the area you want blocked off
WOWz this is really good... this is very clean in interlock geo mergin design the whole thing is just nice and smooth... nice layout seems very org. and like it would play very well... um.... needs more colors hope u still haz a little budget yet... other than that it looks oh so greate hope to see it in MM n good luck
Looks better than the first one. Interlocking is sweet. If the default gametypes work as well as you say, then this is perfect for matchmaking. 5/5
This new version looks great. Your forging skills are truly superb. You have amazing interlocking and merging. You take good pics of your map. I hope your goal putting this to matchmaking will be a success. Excellent job!

I would love it to be in MM but i'm sure there will be plenty of competition. Need to make sure i shove it in Bungie's faces! Well, the changes i have made only look trivial but they really do make the map play a lot better. I would be interested to see your thoughts on the weapon placement. I may not agree because everyone has different opinions on weapon placement but it might help a lot. I just recently swapped the SMG and Plasma Rifle spawns after someone gave me a good reason to do so. Thanks a lot. I agree i does look very open there but even to my own surprise it actually didn't seem too open at all during games so i just left it like that. The map was orginally built for MLG style games but i believe simply the new weapon layout takes it far away from MLG. Hyped has not been budget glitched at all. The MLG version does have base indicator colors though and two extra walls on the map but i couldn't afford all that on this version because of the extra cost of the weapons. They do work really well IMO but i'm still making the spawns specific to each gametype so they should play even better... Cheers.
