I've been trying out several different browsers, and all of them seem to have different little things that make me want a better one. I'm using a Mac with 10.4.11, so keep that in mind as I review all of the browsers I used. Firefox: I loved all the add-ons (StumbleUpon being my favorite) and the new look compared to the windows look of pre-3.0 versions, but it became sluggish after about a month of use on my mac. Even after using xSlimmer (a program that cuts uneccesary files and other things off applications) Firefox was 32 MB compared to Safari 3.1.2's 8.1 MB. Firefox caused my older computer to become slightly sluggish after awhile. Also took MUCH longer to open then other browsers. Safari: Seemed to be the best browser, but when it couldn't load a site it would just sit there and load for 10 mins before saying it failed to load the page. Annoyed the crap out of me. If you use mac, safari is probably your best bet. Flock: Really not too much different from Firefox, minus the add-ons. Camino: Turtle slow, even though it should be faster then firefox as they both use a gecko rendering engine, but camimo is native to the mac. Caminicon (a theme changer for Camino) worked, but slowed down the browser if it was on anything then the original theme. Opera: I liked the speed, but it just felt weird with the location of everything on the top. Overall: Can't wait 'til Google Chrome! For now, I might use firefox due to the add-ons.
Google Chrome is actually out now... or a beta or something like that is. I like Firefox by far, I love the look and I've been using it for the last few years, it'd be too hard to use something different
Firefox FTW! I can't use anything else as fast. Only problem is it does get slow at times, but will not be a problem with my new computer!
Chrome isn't out yet for the Mac or Linux yet, only windows. I loved it on vista. There is actually a version that was made using wine, but it's for intel (I've got an ancient iBook with PPC), and it is supposedly slow.
I just use good ol' firefox. Beats everything in comparison for me. But I am eager to use Google Chrome. Looks pretty sweet. Maybe even a firefox killer. Doubt it though... EDIT: You misspelled browser...
bluejays right google chrome is out, i use it on my other computer. its not as good but its pretty kool. they have kool addons and such. their planning on updating it or somthing soon.
My first browser ever (besides IE and Navigator, of course!) was Opera! The newest release, 9.6, is ****ing balls to the walls awesome. You can pretty much reposition everything easily. Want the tab bar at the bottom? Done, customize and move it. Themes are applied immediately, without having to restart. Mouse gestures are built-in, making it easy to jump back and forth using to mouse-clicks. Tabbing was in Opera way before Firefox had it. A ton of FF addons, such as Fast Dial, MouseGestures, and more, were originally Opera functions. The one thing that makes FF better than Opera, in my opinion, is the higher expandability. If you want FF to be able to scroll through web pages like Adobe Reader, you can add an extension to be able to do so. FF is, in those regards, superior. Also, if anyone here aren't to sticklers on how the browsers look and function similarly to how normal ones do, I suggest the Links browser. It is really, really fast, especially if you enable text-only mode.
I didn't misspell browser, I just had a typo I'm typing this on firefox, but opera is download, nemi. I didn't even know about the tabs on the bottom part. edit: I think the opera website is down or something, as I can't load it on firefox or safari :/
Right now I am using Safari. I find it to actually be very fast and the downloading of pictures and stuff is like lightning fast. Now I know that a lot of people in my school use firefox but honestly, I am not a very big fan of it.
