Ok so today i had an idea about how to geomerge open boxes without having to put guides around it. The method i found works really well when you dont have many items left to use as a guide.

First you spawn a double or single box open

Now you spawn doors and put them inside the box. i suggest with the top of the door merging the box.

Now press A on the box and it should start to merge. Note this may lag a little when doing this. I suggest shooting the box (lol?)

Once it has stopped moving it should be a perfect geomerge with enought height for people to walk through.

I have found this way quick and easy and it helps me a lot. So hopefully this helps you out as well.

Something I notice, it starts a little off from the yellow line, and ends ON the yellow line. Though it's a nice technique for newcomers, not going to cut it for the seniors of Forge out there.

For clean and precise merges; you'll need to set up braces. As insane said, the box moved postion so that isnt a precise merge.

sorry for double posting but i went into forge and i did this and i put more doors in and i lined it up with the yellow line and it stayed in the same spot so maybe you can edit your post and say that you can use more doors so it does not go off course. if you put 2 more doors at the doorways that helps it from moving forward and backwards like yours did in your pictures. i hope this helped you.

Hmm, a quick merge. Can you set the open box upside down and do it, too?

I agree with linu. Whenever I geomerge or interlock, I always have guides. Because I the pictures, I did notice also that I started a different place then it ended.

Now what I usually do for a clean geomerge is put teleporters or fence walls around the object you want to merge. And then pressing the object so it sinks down for 2 seconds and then save&quit.

This works for me and few times do I have a crooked geomerge.

If you're ever going to Forge anything, you need to guide things. Every. Single. Time. If you try to get away with not adding a guide for your interlock, you're going to pay for it in the long run.

    Nemihara speaks the truth.

Open boxes are one of the only things you have a slight chance of merging without braces to come out fine. Try merging normal boxes or walls without braces and you'll see what everyone is saying.
