Quarry Created by Sgt Hamburger [br] Supported Gametypes: Slayer Team Slayer All CTF variants Oddball KotH Juggernaut Territories Infection Assault VIP [br] Map Description Quarry is an asymmetrical map that is heavily influenced by attack and defend game-types. One team spawns in a warehouse building and the other in a storage area on the opposite side of the map. The warehouse is the defenders' base and has two entrances: the main doorway and, to the left, a ledge with a battle rifle. Inside are two smg's and crates stacked up with two magnums and two incendiary grenades. To the right of the doorway, there is another ledge with a spartan laser. Outside the main doorway, is a dumpster with a trip-mine, bruteshot, and two spike grenades nearby. To the left and right are passageways to the mining area. If you were to take the left, you could go up the stairs and grab a power drainer, abattle rifle, and two plasma grenades or go under and around the debris to find a flamethrower which can be utilized to defend the base. To the right of the warehouse is a ledge that is accessible by a crate. In front of the ledge and next to the crate are a carbine and a shotgun. On top are two plasma grenades and one of the entrances to the mining area. The mining area itself is the largest open area in the map with slopes made using the interlocking method (like in Gradient) and a bridge bisecting it. At one end of the bridge are two spike grenades and two spikers and at the other a rocket launcher. To the left and right of the bridge are entrances to the storage area where the attacking team spawns. The right entrance in on the ground level and through a small tunnel which is next to a set piece behind a fence. In front of the tunnel is a needler and inside is a regenerator. The left entrance is located next to the mining area entrance nearest to the stairs. It's above ground level on the mining side, but on the other side, it's only reachable by jumping on a crate, which is almost hiding a mauler. The storage area itself is a narrow room with two open boxes built into the wall at different heights that are good ambushing spots, although the upper one is a bit tricky to get to. In the middle of the area are two plasma rifles. _________________________________________________ PICTURES note: these pictures are not up to date with the new version and neither is the diagram. There are a few changes aesthetically so you can't get out by grenade jumping and some weapons were taken out (some plasmas, some spike grenades a plasma rifle, an SMG and a battle rifle). diagram of weapon locations [br] front of the warehouse [br] inside the warehouse [br] if you went to the right [br] The mining area [br] More mining area [br] Storage Area top view. Re: Quarry Ooh, I absolutely love your map presentation, especially the overhead picture. Expect a review of this map in a near future. Peace // gorebound EDIT: You might want to fix that link if people are gonna be able to download your map .
Re: Quarry Wow this map looks promising, will edit! Just amazing, It looks beautiful and feels great. One problem I have is that you can easily get out with a grenade. Other than that this map deserves 5 stars!
Re: Quarry Lol, he probably is. Anyways, the map looks good from the pics and I love teh interlocking, so I'll download it and hopefully get back here with my thoughts.
Re: Quarry Maybe, I'm the only one that noticed, but despite your what I must say is a nice looking map, it is posted in multiple forums and though this might be a mistake, its not the best way to attract attention, sort of like fame vs. infamy. Regardless, welcome to Forgehub, I hope that your pickles are well harvested here!
Re: Quarry yes i did post on multiple forums. It seemed to me that it fit both competitive and casual categories, but if it's against the rules to crosspost, i can always remove one
Re: Quarry I don't like it because some people come here to spam the forums to get downloads and attention. Posting it in multiple forums makes you seem like one of those people. I'm not saying that you are, but it is something that an attention-***** would do. But some of the other moderators and staff don't have a problem with it, so there's no need to remove either one.
Re: Quarry That door inside the double box idea for aesthecity (Sp) Is great, i love maps that look good, so long as they play good too.
Re: Quarry I know being new isn't an excuse, but I wasn't aware that posting the same map in two different forums was frowned upon. I don't want to come across as an attention ***** and I wasn't intending to spam. I'll get rid of the post in casual maps just for good measure EDIT: well it seems I can't, and the thread got locked by the mod
Re: Quarry I did a Forge-through and this map looks awesome. I want to play a game or two here. The layout looks very fun and original. I also really like the small steps to made out of bridges to get up to the horizontal wall. But my main concern about this map is the abundance of weapons and grenades. I think that every spot on the map that has two grenades could have one instead. I bet in your test games, whenever you came across a dead body there was a pile of 4-6 grenades there. Also, I think you could reduce the spare clips in the rocket launcher and the shotgun so they aren't so powerful. Did you intend for players to be able to get into the area with the forklift? It looks purely ornamental, but it's pretty easy to get in there. How does the map play in actual games? It looks like there are not very many spawn points. Spawning might get repetitive, and there might be a chance of spawn camping. Finally, you should know that the double box near the rockets that has the spikers on it does not spawn at the start. Anyway, the map looks great, and I'm looking forward to playing a game here.
Re: Quarry thanks for the feedback I played the map a few times with a couple friends, but not enough to really get the dynamics down 1.Yes there are probably too many grenades and weapons 2. You are not supposed to get into that area, I thought it was just far enough away so you couldn't grenade or rocket jump, but i guess not. 3.About that box thing, whoops. I'll try to fix that right away. 4. yeah too much ammo
Re: Quarry Deffinately queueing this up. Looks like a good solid map with uneven ground levels and a sweet different looking aspect of Foundry, will reply hopefully soon!
Re: Quarry THANK YOU for posting that. They are supported, I just forgot to put them in This just shows how much of a newbie i am EDIT: ok there it is
