This street used to be filled with busy workers... not any more!! http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=22241695 After Seeing Furious D's Map Unchained i was inspired of making a map that didn't play like foundry at all. This map is basically 2 levels; A street and a parking garage, which are relativly small. This Map also includes a small roof area. The weapons placed on the map are 1 AR 1 Rocket 1 Sword 1 BR 1 Sentinal Beam 1 Smg 1 Spiker 2 Magnums 2 Maulers The Equipment placed on this map are 1 Radar Jammer 1 Bubbleshield 1 Overshield 1 Camo 1 Fire Bomb Grenade 2 Frag Grenades 3 Plasma Grenades This map was actually fun to make cause of how much of a challenge it was to make it look how i wanted it. So tell me what you think. A view of the street from the turret side The Roof U-Turn and the overpass Sentinal Beam and the other side of the overpass Warthog side of the map Stairs going down to the parking garage Fence Pathway to the parking garage The parking garage and another set of stairs up to the street This level supports Slayer and King of the Hill. Please tell me if there is something you dont like about the weapon placement. im not very good with that :squirrel_shiftyeyes: Fixed: Due to request i fixed the sloppy parts of my map to make it look more clean. So tell me if there are more spots that look sloppy in any other places. Download:http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=22241695
Re: Tokyo Streets Looks cool. You have my download, especially since I wanna check out how big this is. The pics are good but don't really give you the best idea of the size.
Re: Tokyo Streets Looks good, I'm definitely giving it a go. I'll get back to you later with my opinion about it.
Re: Tokyo Streets Wow this is sweet. It actually seems when you play it like something other than foundry. Really has an authentic feel as if they were streets. I reccomend this to anyone, especially for SWAT, Team Slayer, and Infection.
Re: Tokyo Streets Well maybe the window panels were supposed to look sloppy, like the place has been abandoned and it has been run down. Just like those old western movies where the abandoned towns had crooked or falling off windows. To me it just adds to the authenticity of the map, so BOOM!
Re: Tokyo Streets Thanks everyone for the positive comments. i love this place, bungies forums just pushes my map to like the 50th page, but here i get some critisizim. Thanks :squirrel_rocking:
Re: Tokyo Streets At first when I tried this map out I thought it felt too small, like there was a floor missing. So I loaded it up in Forge and lo and behold, I had missed the top floor. I must say that you've done a great job in creating an atmosphere that feels like an actual street. Kudos on adding the warthog, it makes me think of the Halo 2 level Turf. Aesthetic / Functionality The overall layout is quite satisfying but the execution unfortunately isn't. It looks like you were in a hurry to get the map published when there's crooked walls, gaps that you've plugged with left over walls etc. I Love all the "nooks" and "crevices" you've managed to jam into the map, for instance that corridor where the sword spawns. Love it! Why did you place reciever nodes on and next to the truck? Spawning Always remember that when a player spawns they want to know exactly where they are and where they could / should go. Therefor you should always walk up to each of the spawnpoints and look in the direction they are facing, just in order to see what a respawned player gets to see. You should also try not to place any respawnpoints next to dangerous items such as Fusion Coils. When you have a small map that is blocked off from the rest of the environment (Foundry is bigger than your map Tokyo Streets) you should make sure to do two things. Place lots of spawnpoints next to each other in areas where you expect lots of grenades to go off (i.e. corners). Example, if you only have two spawnpoints on your map and they are placed next to each other and someone throws a grenade which lands right next to one of the spawnpoints then the system is going to let the player spawn on the spawnpoint furthest away from the grenade and that distance between the two can mean life or death for the player. The other thing you should think about is the usage of spawnareas. Spawnareas make sure that players spawn in a safe location and they make sure that the players spawn Inside the map and not on any of the emergencyspawns Outside your blocked off map. I can't find Startingpoints for Slayer on the map, have you forgotten to place any? Fun Fact: I managed to drive the warthog down one set of stairs, through the parking lot and up the other set of stairs. Actually it was a blast ;D And yes, it's been a slow day so that's why I had the time to test it out . When you make a map in forge you should never haste anything, perfection takes time. And as I always say, you should always strive for perfection. The end result greatly benefits from it. All in all it's a good map, it could be great though. I hope you take the time with your next project and I hope we get to see a remake of this map in the future. Good work! Peace // gorebound
Re: Tokyo Streets Thanks for the down to earth criticism gorebound. it'll help me a lot in the v2. So look forward to a lot less sloppy tokyo streets That's because you could easily displace the truck and escape out of the map under the fence wall walkway. i was trying to avoid it to make the map look more "natural" but i couldn't. Good luck getting the warthog down there in game lol thanks , oh and it's tokyo cause well when i had this map in mind i was thinkin about when i used to live up in japan lol that's why.
Re: Tokyo Streets It's not a problem man, I'm just trying to give back to the community in hopes that I one day get the same in return . And Schweet, I'm looking forward to v2 .
Re: Tokyo Streets sorry for the long wait my comp kinda froze in the middle of an edit. so check out my post above for some questions i forgot to answer
Re: Tokyo Streets I liked your map however you should have spent more time making walls neat thats all.
Re: Tokyo Streets Hey, since im getting especially a lot of criticism for the walls, i was wondering if you guys could tell me some spots that might need it. I fixed the fence walls on the ends of the road, and the pathway from the machine gun turret stairs. If theres more then i would appreciate it if you could tell me thanks oh and be sure to make comments on bungie please and thanks again.
sorry for the bump and the double post but i dont now any other way to show that v2 is done without creating another topic. If there is another way someone correct me. V2 finished. download in main post.
Wow, the warthog can go ten feet. How exciting. Other than that drab piece of unenthusiasm, it looks alright.
If you haven't tried out the map yet I suggest that you do, because if Toast hasn't done anything radical with the geometry you're actually able to drive the warthog down to the garage. It takes a while but it is possible . And you know I'm gonna download this one Toast!
if you made it bigger it could've been a lot of fun. Maybe try to make it much bigger and still use the merging.
If i could've made it bigger i would have. Seeing how i ran out of money then realized that there was a glicth for that i dont know if i want to remake this map with that glitch. Well anyways thanks for the downloads
