This is Cedar Orphanage, an orphanage accidentally blocked off by a careless shipping company at Christmas time. This game is just perfect for your zombie holiday needs. This is played with the Red Christmas gametype. There are lots of details in this map such as reindeer, the firebomb nose on the "Rudolph" mongoose, a shipping company outside the front of the orphanage.
When everyone spawns, Santa will be on the rooftop and can break through the pile of crates in the front or drop down the chimney which is 100 percent easier, don't get too close! Players will spawn on top of pallet beds and will have weapons on them. There are SMGs for dual wielding and Shotguns for defense. Outside by the shipping compound is a toll booth with a custom power up in it with a battle rifle. The custom power up is for 10 seconds which gives you lighter gravity to hop outta the toll booth. Players will have to do whatever they can to defend themselves from the holly jolly horror for 5 minutes. When you get infected you will become Santa's elves, green, quick, and very weak, basically instant kill. Santa is more of a fat, slow, tankish beast of a man.

    ***THIS IS A REPOST***
I've revamped a couple things, thanks to Trickmyster and a couple other guys, I took suggestions. There's now a Christmas tree, I've lifted the chimney for an actual chimney look, and fixed all the spawns and added starting points. This had 80 DLs before I reposted. Have fun.

BTW, I know that this is very late and I apologize for not rushing this. Seriously, this took me way to long to post up cause I'm lazy like that.

This was a very origional map. The Santa Clause attacking orphans theme is hilarious, and it looks quite nice, with the christmas tree and what not. Did anyone see the move The Orphanage? Scariest movie I've seen in a long time. This map was nothing like the movie, but I thought I'd bring that up (actually, you could switch the elves out for ghosts if you liked the movie, but I digress). Anyway, it was a bit sparce for a zombie map. It seemed to boil down to an exercise in chimney-camping, with some occasional variation. I'm a sucker for origionality though, so thumbs up from me.

    Enjoyability: 7/10
    Durability: 8/10
    Aesthetics: 7/10
    Origionality: 9/10
    Balance: 3/10

I missed out on this first game last night, but I did a run-through in Forge beforehand to get a lay of the land. I'll say you did a really good job on the main construction of the house, but I felt like there should have been more to the inside rather than just a small loft area that was rather awkward to get to. I'm not real big on Infection games (which is not really relevant), but it seems like it would be really hard for Santa zombie to get the first kill if all of the kiddies played as a team together. Maybe a few rooms on a full second floor with another fireplace entrance up there would make some stealth kills a little easier to come by. But I did really like the weapons under the pillows of the bed, a real nice touch. The other potential problem I found in Forge was how incredibly easy it was to get out of the fenced back yard on the opposite side from the Custom Power Up. I don't usually play to intentionally 'break' maps, but as a Furious Tester I felt I had to try. Something as simple as a portable grav lift would be a quick fix.
I won't give a full review of the map since I didn't play it, but I'll throw my two cents in for what I was able to see in Forge.

    Enjoyment: N/A

Durability: [IMG] I was able to break your map, but it's an easy thing to fix.

Aesthetics: [IMG] Very well put together, just needs a little more to it.

Originality: [IMG] Best Evil Santa idea since the Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special.

Balance: [IMG] The too open floor plan really seems to put Santa at a bigger disadvantage than usual for Infection.

    Score:

Here are my ratings, and opinions.

    Enjoyment: 5 out of 10

    Durability: 6 out of 10

    Aesthetics: 8 out of 10

    Originality: 8 out of 10

    Balance: 3 out of 10

This map has to be one of my favorites that I have played so far, it was one of the coolest Zombie concepts I have seen, and had an awesome map layout, with everything so good, could anything be bad? Well, like almost every Zombie map out there, this one had one major flaw, balance. While the gameplay was fast, and exciting, it never gave you that horrible feeling that you are about to become a zombie. As a human, you have a fortified stock of ammunition lying all over the floor, and you never really have to worry about being killed by a Zombie.

As a Zombie, all you can do is jump down the chimney, and hope that the humans have fallen asleep by the fireplace, because if any of them are awake, then all it takes is one of them to hold off the entire Zombie nation. Inspite of it's balance shortcomings, this map plays pretty smoothly, and with a bit of editing, will be a Christmas favorite every year.

My Overall Rating is: 6 out of 10

    Map Review Haiku:

    Santa's on the roof
    But don't worry, he's a wuss
    Kill those weak-ass elves

The first thing I should say is that I hate (HATE) infection games, so keep that in mind. Even though I realize they are the only way to make some interesting, truly creative games, I still hate the whole concept. Also, since these are my first reviews, I'll be low-balling a little bit so that there's room for improvement.

Ok, my first comment is a small architectural one. The staircase in the back of the orphanage goes straight up to the wall and has an awkward jump necessary to get onto the platform there. The addition of a little landing at the top would really help this map for me.

Next, There's the teleporter christmas tree. While lovely, it makes for a strange game dynamic... it's possible for the orphans to hide inside, making them exceptionally difficult to kill. Unfortunately, it's the only thing that mixes up the standard "hey-we're-stuck-in-a-room-and-there's-zombies-coming-through-that-hole-there" gametype. The chimney is really the only feasible way in, and it's almost instant death if the humans are at all organized. And if you're not the alpha zombie - one of those weak elves - you can kiss any points goodbye.

There is a back way in, but it's exceptionally hard to open, and is pretty much instant death as well. And to top it all off, the humans don't even have to think about conserving ammo.

Anyway, like I said, I hate infection games. But, as far as they go, Cedar Orphanage is pretty good.

    Rick's suggestions:

-Turn off radar for the humans. There're only 1.2 entrances to the orphanage. Radar takes away what surprise there might be. Play with less than 13 people. Pump up those elves a bit.
