I've had the same thing happen but trying to explain it to some people rarely makes them believe you. I can do the push, but I have also had what you are describing happen. Funny thing is the merging will begin to happen more than the pushing will.

Like many others, I don't understand this beyond pushing things into the ground. I just can't figure out other angles.

Can I suggest this as the topic for the next Forging 101 video?

I'm confused, after the top object spawns, what do I do, the one I keep holding goes right down through the ground.

I doubt this would work with vehicles, seeing as they can get destroyed by boxes hitting them, but it's worth a try I suppose.

    Putting wall into foundrys wall
In my fileshare there's videos called "Part One" and "Part Two" in which you'll see how I put a wall into the upper wall of foundry, you know, the one that's tilted so it's a pain when making high up maps.

    Gigith's Fileshare
Sorry I didn't make a forum for each one, but I'm too busy working on the map in the video, just wanted to let you know how I did it.

Edit: I'll put up some more videos of how to do this glitch tomorrow, maybe.

It'd seem alot of people are having trouble with this glitch, so I'll post another guide, one a little more in depth.
This will show you how to:
    • Fuse items at an angle
    • Fuse Walls at an angle
    • Guide your item into just the right spot
    • Fix up your fused item after your done

We all know how to inter-lock items, well this is really just inter-locking but your holding an item while another item spawns on top of it, making the item your holding fuse into the ground, wall, etc.

However getting items to fuse into just the right area and on the right angle is the hard part, so you'll want to put up some items around it to make sure it doesn't go in at the wrong angle.

You see while doing this glitch the item your holding will fuse into map geometry, but the item will still try it's best to not fuse into OTHER ITEMS, so you can use that to your advantage by putting up items around it to make sure it turns out good.

In truth it's a simple glitch, it just takes some luck.
    • Put down a 'Pusher' as high as you want the item you'll fuse into the ground to keep it's head up, or as close to a wall as you want the item to keep it's side out of. The idea of the 'Pusher' is that it will spawn on top of the item you want to fuse into map geometry.(The 'Pusher' is not what will be fused into map geometry, it'll simply push another item into map geometry.
    • Set the 'Pusher' to not spawn when the round starts and set the respawn time to 180 if the 'Pusher' is the same item as the item you'll try to fuse into map geometry or to like 30-40 if it's not*
    • Place down the item you want to fuse into map geometry over the 'Pusher's spawn point.
    • Put down some items around the item you'll be fusing into map geometry while keeping the path to the map geometry you'll want to fuse it into open, this will make it more likely to get fused into the right place and is a must have for fusing smaller items like walls.
    • Now save as so that you can keep going back to this step if you mess up
    • Grab the item your fusing and angle yourself so that your looking at the item you'll be fusing on the opposite side of where you'll be pushing it. Eg, if I was pushing an item into the north wall I'd want to hold it looking at it from the south wall.
    • Wait for the 'Pusher' to spawn on top of the item YOUR HOLDING, *if the item your fusing is the same type as your pusher than just set the run time Minimum to the max number and the 'Pusher' will spawn instantly and push the item YOUR HOLDING into the wall, or the ground, the roof, if it's not the same type as the one your fusing than just wait for the 'Pusher' to spawn normally.

Now there you have it, an items fused into map geometry.
However if you want to make it a little cleaner than you'll want to save as (So you can go retry this multiple times if you fail, which you will... alot) and grab the item as a monitor and let go as fast as you can, it should just shake around and move into another spot, if it moves into the spot you wanted or not is just a matter of luck and how many items you have around it to help guide it's random shaking and sliding. Keep in mind that this is just the after math fix, it'll help you change the items placement around AFTER you've fused it into map geometry.

So there you have it, another guide how to do this glitch.
You can also download the videos of me fusing a wall into the side of foundry:

    Download Video Part One
    Download Video Part Two

Note: I got the wall to look alot better than in those pictures, these pictures are just ones of when I first started working on it.
PS: It only works with immovable items, so the newer maps would be best.

Thank you Gigith, those videos should help loads, and the explanation was very good. One typo though, you called the item you're merging the "pusher" in one of the steps (I think the second-to-last bullet point). You may want to correct that for future clarity. ^_^

Wow, this isn't a place to yell and scream and make fun of people. Shut up. And it doesn't say "PRETTY COLD OUT HERE AIN'T IT?" It says something about it being rough if I remember right, I don't know the exact words, but something along the lines of: "It's looking a little rough out here." Again, that's probably wrong, but you are wrong even more so, go **** yourself, and I don't care if I get warned/banned for this like you did.

Side Note: Like, OMG! I'ma hypocrite, I'm making fun of someone. =O. Whatever, I still stand by it.

    Ohh yes, I've fixed it.
However it's 2AM here (Been working on the map in the video for the past 2 days) so I don't know if I can fix things too well.. But the guide (after another read though) seems fine. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

The problem that people are encountering in regards to "Not being able to select xyz object to move/delete" is an undesirable glitch that Bungie didn't fix.

Respawn times and Place at Start properties are the culprits. For some unknown reason when you start a forge game from the lobby, objects with different values for the two aforementioned properties will behave strangely (i.e. appear when not supposed to appear at the beginning, or not appear when they are supposed to appear at the beginning. For the objects affected, your forge-mode monitor will not be able to interact with these objects.

THERE IS A VERY EASY FIX:

    1. For the object affected, go to the item properties within the palette and set the run-time minimum to its highest value.

    2. START A NEW ROUND

    3. The objects that were affected by this glitch will now be editable.

    4. Change the run-time minimum back to it previous value.

Also, if you are not sure if anything is affected by this, one thing I like to do is start a new round IMMEDIATELY after starting a forge session. It clears up any objects that are affected by this.

Hope this helps, and send me a PM if you have any questions.

    Alternate Method: Using the Door
    Faster, easier and more precise

Place the object you want to merge and secure it with other immovable objects like in the other method. Spawn a door and place it upside-down on top of the box. You'll see it sink into the box about a third of the way. Once it has settled, grab the box and let go right away. The door will now push the box down into the floor. If you want the box deeper in the floor, grab the door again and let it go and it'll sink back into the box.

This method is much faster and easier than the save and quit method. You can also use the sides of the doors to make smaller adjustments. Use multiple doors at the same time to push objects evenly.

Original topic using this technique (brought to my attention by Furious D 18)
