Really, it wouldn't. But it's rather annoying to type up an entire description and then have people ask you questions about the map when the answer is already there. Besides, too much emphasis is being placed on how a map looks, which is ironic. In the early days, no one used screenshots, and you had to decide if the map was d/l worthy by reading the description. People started taking screenshots of the map, and that became the new standard. "If you spend time making screenshots, it must be a quality map, so I'll download it." Nowadays, people know that screenshots are pretty much expected. So they'll spend one hour on a map and one hour on a post and expect to get downloads. Nowadays, the description is needed again, because it shows that you put effort in, above and beyond screenshots. I believe that a good description should be expected, not just a bunch of screenshots. Everyone wants instant gratification. "If the screnshots look good, there's no reason to spend a whole 30 seconds reading. I'll just comment on the screenshots and move on." I'll admit that I usually skip the description until I look at a few pics, but I almost always read before I download, and I always read before I make comments on a map's quality. True, a picture is worth a thousand words. But in map posts, all one thousand of those words are "download." People need to start reading again. _________________________________________________ Anyway, I've had my fun and said what I wanted to say. I think a couple people were fooled. Next time do a little reading before you get click-happy on that "reply" button. But overall I was expecting to get more people, so I'm glad the majority of members are reading descriptions, or as Orange said, they are at least reading the descriptions when a Mod posts something. Thanks for reading this big block of text. And if you've gotten this far and you'd like to share your opinions on the matter, feel free to send me a personal message.
