This is mostly just a wait till I have some free time, I was doing school work till about 5pm, ate dinner, had a family movie night, chatted with one of my best friends and that's about it. Just finished. I should have time to do it tomorrow, I have way less school. Tim
Thank you. I am uploading the new videos (2 part SSX Race my friend did for me) right now, hopefully they will be don tomorrow I'm messing with some of the stuff on the editor so these may be better or worse once they've been uploaded. YouTube has a tendancy to down the quality though.
I got mine off of eBay. It works great although I needed and extra RCA cable to record off the TV. For some reason the S-video cable was not being read I guess. Great software, I have a video test below of Halo 3 and w/o using VDUB to raise the quality. The default options do need to be changed from PAL to NTSC. This had given me a problem. It also comes with an editing software which I test only basics on. The video is below. Be nice to me about it.
Very nice! I think the quality was higher than my first ones (may just be that I'm having t play PS2 till my 360 gets back), I'll have to turn of the vdub... Anyways, I got my new one up, this time it's my friend playing SSX On Tour, and he's a lot better at that than I am at NFSU 2. However, unfortunately, I deleted the second race (it was a two race contest) accidentaly, so I only have one race
Hey would you mind sending me a link to an Ebay one because I dont want to make any mistakes in buying one
Here's one. It ends in about 2 days and 20 hrs from this post, but the picture can still be used for reference after that. Tim
That is because it is primarily for recording to uncompressed AVI, which means that when you capture you aren't compressing the file. Subsequently you get minimal degradation in the video quality after you compress it for upload and streaming over the net because you only have to compress the file once. Compressing multiple times is to be avoided, both for this reason and because it restricts your options for encoding to other file types and resolutions if needed in the future. The down side is that you need a huge hard drive and a fast computer to capture to uncompressed AVI. I'd also like to echo Penguinish in saying that largely you get what you pay for. A USB external capture device is never going to provide the best quality and in fact demands more system performance to avoid skipped frames. Your SSX video looks like it is actually of slightly worse quality, I think it's misleading because it's smaller.. did you change any of your capture settings other than the resolution? Or is it a large black border and otherwise the same? (In that case, it looks roughly the same).
@Shock Theta - It was just the resolution. My friend had a small window of time in which he could come over, durring which time my computer was running a virus check. I lower the res a bit to prevent any lag, just in case. @Homicidaltard - Glad I could help. As to the previous suggestin that it breaks easily, I have been using my riggorously, although not often recording, and have had no trouble. At least two day out of the week for the past couple of weeks my computer has had to replace my grandparents tv for my brother and I's gaming needs Tim
Yes and no. If the grab feature is up, you don't mind waiting for quite a while, and you don't ever want to make a montage then yes. But if you want to capture anything other than halo, want to be able to capture whenever you want, however many videos you want, or make a montage then no. This has been discussed before. GeeVee is a good free alternative. If you don't want to pay for anything then by all means, GeeVee is great. To sum up how I feel about the whole capture thing: If you don't want to/can't spend anything: GeeVee If you can spend something but don't have much to spend: EasyCap If you have a good bit to spend: Good Capture Card, a few were mentioned prior. They get better as you go down the list. Either way, to each his/her own.
