First of all, let me get it straight that I am quite the newbie here at Forge Hub (Which seems like an excellent community). Now I am not here just to post my one map then leave the forums, but hopefully I can become an active contributer to FH. Of course, this is the reason I joined the site, so why not have my first post be a map I have to share. Trench Wars Two opposing trenches, too close for comfort. Download Trench Wars Download Trench Warfare Gametype This was originally posted on Bungie.net but lost in the abyss, so there's no real harm posting this description here. Relieve classic trench warfare with this map from The Mutato and weasle 000. The map consists of two opposing U-shaped trenches, complete with underground tunnels for close quarter fights. Above the tunnels, you are relatively protected, however, enemy fire is never far away. Although the enemy trench is always quite close, it is a hard feat for a soldier to cross the battlefield, with artillery constantly bombarding the zone. Weapons on either side of the trenches include SMGs, Battle Rifles, Shotguns, a Sniper Rifle and a Rocket Launcher, plus a solitary flamethrower (This can dominate the underground) in no-man's land. Trench wars has been thoroughly tested, and works best for team games ranging from 4-8 players per team. It is configured for team slayer, assault and capture the flag, with flag spawns and bomb plant points deep inside the enemy base. I suggest heading to my File Share and downloading my "Trench Warfare" game variant. If you wish to make other game variants for the map, I suggest settings of: -SMG starts -50% damage resistance -75% speed Also in my file share is "Alien Trenches", a human vs. covenant version of the map. Piccies! Main View "U"-Shaped Trench In the trench Trench Cross-section Nice and cosy in the underground tunnels Soon I will try to add some action photos, and possibly Assault and CTF variants.
Welcome to the community, nice post, and the map looks interesting. I'll check it out and try to get back here with my thoughts.
Well, the map looks nice. The gameplay might be different enough to make this interesting. I'll queue it if I have room. (I really want to put something below that floating turret, though.)
There really isn't much to put under the turret. we tried pallets, but those things are way to flimsy. It should be easy enough to suspend your disbelief. Thanks for the comments all.
This looks really cool. I'd like to see the trench layout with the ceiling removed. Anyway you can provide the community with a floor plan of some sort. I'm definently going to dl this though, nice job.
Review time! I want to start by saying that I really like the idea of this map. Two bases, each with their own trenches, and no-man's land. I expected the two bases to be connected underneath, and I was disappointed at first when I realized that is not the case. But now I think it's cool cause people have to get across no-man's land to capture the flag, and I bet that's pretty intense in an actual game. As for neatness, I did notice a few slanted objects, but nothing major. You could have used the interlocking technique to really make this map sparkle, but it's pretty good as it is. Also, it looked like you built each base first and then filled in the center with spare objects. Is that how you did it? The middle doesn't look neat at all, with walls and barrels placed here and there to fill in gaps. But that might add to the intensity of it all, so no biggie. Also, I generally don't care for any map that contains the constant explosions of fusion coils. I usually have to put the tv on mute because the audio is so annoying. You might try a game here with no fusion coils to see if they are really necessary. But that's just my opinion. I know a lot of people like the crazy, explosive atmosphere. Also, I wanted to point out that you can change the shape of respawn areas. I noticed that you placed some in circular form, but a box shape might be better on this map. Just mentioning that in case you didn't know. I think this is a cool map, and I'd like to play a game here some time, but I think you could have made it much much neater if you had a little more attention to detail. Nice work.
Thanks for trying it out, I see your problem with the fusion cores, but I actually did try it without them in an earlier version, but people would just clear no-man's land too easily. The floor is irregular on purpose, I could have made it nice and neat, but that just ruins the atmosphere, doesn't it. However, that said, I may re-make the whole map and floor plan later.
Nice post, is this your first? My first was nowhere even close to this standard. I think you should consider posting this in the "Shellshocked" contest, you have a strong chance.
First actual competitive slayer map. I would post it in the Shellshocked contest, but it's not really historically specific. It was originally loosely based on the battle of Paschendale, and the trenches' shape are WWI accurate, but nothing really specific to a certain battle.
