    : This ancient beacon once cast its light across the galaxy, but now it casts only shadow.​




    This map is a medium sized, two level, enclosed structure. This is the most symmetrical map i have made to date, with the layout being almost circular. There is an upper room, which is the lamp room, which used to create a blinding light but now only one of the lamps still burns.The overall look of the map is contrasted with very bright areas and dark, shadow filled areas. The upper room has four ramps leading down to the first level as well as a central shaft to drop down, or fire down from. The four rooms at the bottoms of the ramps are fairly wide open, with a small shielded area under the ramp and some barriers to duck behind. The lower central area is connected to the outer ring by four halls with long sight lines and BRs on the corners. I placed a bubble shield in the center because it is good for breaking up those long site lines, and also for when you might be attacked from above. In all this is my personal favorite so far.

    On Map:
    Battle Rifle x 4 (2 clips, 30 sec respawn)
    Assault Rifle x 4 (2 clips, 20 sec respawn)
    MPG x 4 (2 clips, 120 sec respawn)
    Needler x 2 (2 clips, 120 sec repawn)
    Plasma Grenades x 4 (10 sec respawn)
    Regenerator x 1 (90 sec respawn)
    Power Drain x 1 (90 sec respawn)
    Bubble shield x 1 (120 sec respawn)

    Gametypes:
    This level was setup and tested for every gametype. I think Free for All Slayer is the best, but Territories and Assault games were a lot of fun too. Make sure you set the territory capture times, and the bomb detonation times to about 10-20 secs. And Snipers only was interesting as well.

    wow this was a very good post.

    first off lets talk about the map itself. i like the whole concept and how the oddballs and bombs spawn those are pretty cool. one question. how hard is it to actually pick them and the needler up? i was wondering because i see no way up and it seems difficult to grab it on the way down.

    now for aesthetics grading.

    I see lots of interlocking and some aesthetically plesaeing features like the structure itself looks very well made and it seems like you took a lot of effort to make this as good as it looks. and also A+ on the interlocking i mean there are maybe one or two sloppy looking interlocks but other than that it looks great.

    i will edit this later with game play ratings. so bee in mind that i will edit this post once i have played on the map.

    This map looks terribly familiar to your, the HIVE but still looks fun,
    try and make more odd shaped maps, like my new map on avalanche, its not stupid shaped, its just a different shaped. Very fun looking with the hallways and the energy doors, but i would add more cover, but thts just me...
    your maps are goood, keep it up, just go think outside the doublebox :] a lil more. I like the symetrical levels on it, but heres advice, add at leased one better than the rest weapon, like a brute. rockets are overrated, i hate close snipers, and shotties are just un fun! brutes a safe bet. love the map 4.3/5

    also the letters that say shadows, look like the txt for the simpsons :]

    This map looks really nice and I can tell by the pictures that you took your time to create to create this one. I'll download it and play tomorrow to let you know what I think of it gameplay wise. One thing I will say is that I'm never a huge fan of objective points being placed on walls/celings. However I don't think that should ever be a reason to not play a map especially as good looking as this one.

    First impression: 9.5/10

    The map itself looks like a 4/5, but the post and the diagrams make it look like a 5/5! Great work, it looks really planned out!

    Looks REALLY good. Great the way you showed gameplay pics. On the top level how you added an extra element by placing shield walls, but you can hide behind them, giving you those extra seconds for shield recharge. Keep it up. 5/5

    Me, waylander and some other mates played crazy hill on it and it was great fun, well made and very smooth, looks great and i love it how you've put the sheild doors at the top so you and be safe behind them but your not in the hill and i like the power up in the top centre floor. Great map. 4/5

    Shadows by Aimless Ant

    This map by all means looks and feels like an epic FFA map. It somewhat has a real Goldeneye feel to it and we all know how awesome Goldeneye's multiplayer was. The map is very well constructed and the floors that are not on Foundry floor and all smooth with no bumps. Nice for grenade bouncing. The lower sections are equally well built. One potential criticism but this is very minor, the bridges up to top middle are pretty steep. When running up them it does not feel like the Spartan is running at 100% speed. It feels somewhat slow and sluggish.

    Weapons on this map are another plus. On a map like this power weapons really are not needed. Its intense close quarter combat and also in response PJFAN83's suggestion to add a Bruteshot, do not. It would make the map escapable.

    The Power Drain and Regenerator are possibley a little bit too clsoe to each other on top middle. I think that they are potentially the msot unbalanced thing about the map. A player potentially can grab the regenerator lay it and then grab the power drain to fight people off making it very hard to assault top middle. Hopefully with the different respawns of 90(power drain) and 120(regenerator) this will be minimal abuse.

    I love the asethetic touches from the man cannon 'lights' to the four custom powerups in the corner of top middle. The two main bases are also clearly defined by a Camo and a Overshield. It just makes the map look really cool and gives it a real character that is not present in many maps, including quite often featured maps.

    The bottom of the map needed minimal cover due to its circular shape and you have covered this perfectly and at the same time made two obvious hotspots on the map where the fighting will get the most intense.

    This is not going to be one of my longer posts but thats because it rally does not need to be. The level is simple. Its not the most complex piece of forging you will ever see(not taking away from your forging skill at all Aimless Ant but there are many more technical maps out there) but it does not needs to be. the level is brilliant because of its simplicity. If you like FFA games then this map HAS to be on your harddrive as its one of the best i have seen. I would say also due to its small size no more than six player FFA. Team game on this will be frantic as hell so if you like your games slow this probably is not for you.

    Oh, also, Aimless Ant the man cannon light closest to the attacker spawn, with the BR under it, you can trigger it to throw you if you jump up into it. Not the easiest thing to do but it can be done. It really has no affect on gameplay but i thought you might want to know.

    Really great map, theres not much more to say than that.

    I like the map, It's very nice and stuff, Has very nice interlocking and I'd say the gameplay would be fun. It's a real sort of close quarters map to me, The needler would own and so would the SMG's. 4.5/5, Don't worry!! I will come back with a review later. ;)

    EDIT: I played FFA Slayer with 4 people and it was so fun, The plasma grenades and bubble shield were really good when using tactical ideas, For example, I used bubble shield, My friend came out of it to try and kill me, I threw the plasma grenade and it stuck him while I jumped back, I hope to see more maps like this in the future. :)

    This map's great.!. The only thing that's not my style is how you have the bomb/oddball against the wall in the center of the map...
    I would place it floating in the center.

    But other than that it's 5/5 ;)

    I have to say, this looks like really nice map. I shall check it out and get back to you with a full report. (From what I can see, there's good interlocking, nice weapon placement, and looks fun for FFA KotH)...

    Once again you bring the goods. This is a very good looking map, but it does look at little different from the rest of your maps, it has darker - dirty look to it. It plays well, the flow of the level is smooth and continueous, and the like the other post said the minimal cover works well with the circular layout of the level. I still think i like the look of Neutron best, but this level is still great! Keep the hits coming!

    This map look like it has some great potential. The basic layout reminds me of a map I built not too long ago. Sometimes its the simple map designs that are the most fun to play on. Slayer and King of the Hill look like the gametypes to play on this map, although the top may be a bit dominant in slayer matches....it depends on what angles grenades can be used. I shouldn't be a problem. I look forward to trying this one out, and hopefully it succeeds where my map didn't.

    Great map but try making the middle hole smaller so people dont have such a huge angle to shoot at others below and this seems to be rigged against anyone on the bottom floor, Looks great for FFA though.

    savage- try playing the map before you comment. The top floor has no advantage over the bottom floor. There are many ways to escape if someone is firing down on you, as well there are many ways to attack some one who may try to camp on the top floor (which i see no reason someone would by the way)

    Mad props for making an arena, h3 needs more of them, for arenas are perfect for anything- four sided symmetrical, just like this great arena
