The only way I could see this turn into a debate is if we debate whether or not we should rebuild New Orleans. Some are saying another Katrina event will occur and kill more people and waste the money it took to rebuild the city. Others claim the new levies are safe and will prevent any further harm.

My opinion is this: The earth is always changing, and sometimes those changes are going to effect where we live. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst. Either way we have to adapt to these changes. I think if the city wants to survive for the long term, they should relocate their center populous more inland.

On the subject of New Orleans, of course it should be rebuilt but not where it was. Building a city essentially in a swamp or something very near to that(an extensive river basin) was a big mistake and thats what made the whole situation so bad. If the city is to be brought back to life then it will have to move itself to geologically safer ground. If you were the Roman Empire would you particularly want to rebuild Pompeii a few years on from the Volcano?
Another Katrina hurricane is incredibley likely at some point in the future so Americans can not just ignore that fact. On a similar note but a slight side track Tokyo is sitting ontop of 3 Tetonic plate boundaries and had a horrible earthquake about 80 odd years ago. They know another massive eathquake is going to happen at some point but have done very little to prepare for it. America does not want to find itself in this position if another Katrina does happen.

The only thing that is up for debate is how long it will take for a mod to lock this completely ridiculous topic. I highly suggest you learn what the definition of debate is before you go posting something else here.
