Recently, in my experiences of browsing and surfing the web, I've seen many people abusing their use of the internet. Not just at forge hub, but many other forums and websites i visit. people forget what the internet is for, and how to use it. they forget correct manner and common courtesy. With these experiments in mind, I would like to write a brief post on how the internet should be used correctly. First: many people forget that they are communicating and conversing with ACTUAL human beings over the web. Yup, that's right, they're not monkeys, or robots, they are just like you. This means you should treat them with respect. Don't flame, bash, or try to bring someone down. It will just show how immature you are to try to hurt someones feelings over the internet and someone you don't know personally. they have feelings just like you and im sure they wouldn't want to be flamed either. you dont know them, they don't know you. Second: Speak maturely over the internet. yeah, I know most people using the internet are lazy... think about it, we're sitting on comfortable chairs (most of us) laying back and talking about video games, i will admit we're being lazy while using the internet. anyway, most people dont want to see how well you can speak l337 or spend 10 minutes on what your trying to say. use the best language to your knowledge, and have meanings to your posts. don't just mindlessly spam forums with posts that are unneccesary. I almost always spell check after writing up a post... I suggest you do it too so we know what you are talking about. Third: this ties into the first point. be nice and respectful to others. the internet was made for entertainment, for people to learn things, and for people to share things (such as opinions, thoughts, and on this website, media content). if you don't like any of the things presented to you, you may say so, but only with an elaborate post and good reasoning and explanation to back it up. again, don't flame or call anybody a noob. calling someone a noob would be very hyocritical in the reason that someone is using the internet in the right case (to share something with others). your not going to like everything out there on the internet, so suck it up and dont be a jerk. Lastly: accept other peoples opinions. There will be some opinions out there that you wont completely agree with or that you will be mad about. if someone gives you a negative opinion on something of yours, but has good explanation logic, and maturity behind the opinion, you have no reason to be mad. Don't be an idiot and flame them for not liking whatever you posted, they're most likely trying to help, or proove a point in a mature way. You'll notice that most of the negative things tie back to flaming while the positive things tie back to maturity. so if i were to sum this whole post up, i would say "Don't flame others, and be mature" I hope this helps people understand how to use the internet for a better understanding.
Me as a female player has to deal with this crap all the time... Plus rep for you and a somewhat supportive thread.
WTF? Evan isn't a robot monkey? Well I guess I might have to start accepting other people no matter how hard it might be. I will try. Promise is made Mr. Robot Monkey.
That is very true. This thread is right and makes a good point. I sometimes forget that all the time. I thought that monkeydeath was a monkey though.......damn it
Well thank goodness I act the same way on the internet as I do in real life. I'm quite the amiable fellow on the streets, and I seem to be well liked on the intertubes.
