I'm not gonna say **** twice, so just read it again, but slower (usually after this line, I have clarify that I'm just joking, so lol).

    Intro:.
This thread will be helpful for the people who feel as though their skills are lacking when it comes to Halo 3 Ranked Matches. I have felt the same way at one point. But now I have taught myself (and gotten helpful tips from others). I really hope that this is constructive, so now I will shut my yap and get to the good stuff.

    AIM:.
No it's not a freaking instant message program, its just probably the most important part of Halo. Usually, when you're 1 on 1, both with BR's, you may get "4 shotted". That is when 3 shots hit your body, and 1 shot hits your head. This is solely because, he's good at aiming, and lets just say you're the one reading this whole tutorial about aim. To cure this, I suggest a sensitivity level of 1 or 2. You can also create a shooting range (there are also ranges available on FH). I will include a tutorial on how to set up a range and links to shooting ranges on FH on the bottom of the thread. A shooting range really can help your aim, and its easy to tell when you've hit the target, as usually they are fusion coils. The best ways to improve your Body-shot/Head-shot ratio is probably Team SWAT. Because the gametype is only headshots, you will have to learn how to aim at the head.

    Weapons that use aim:

    BR
    Sniper Rifle
    Beam Rifle
    Carbine
    Magnum (believe it or not)
    Spartan Laser

    Weapons that don't use aim:

    AR (semi homing)
    Shotgun (close range)
    Grav Hammer (close range)
    Sword (close range)
    Needler (homing)
    Spiker (spray)
    SMG (semi homing)
    Rocket Launcher (wide kill radius)
Fuel Rod (not featured in Ranked)

    Team Work:.
Actually, teamwork is the absolute most important part of Halo, or at least the team games.

    Communication:
Talk to each other! If you just play to yourself, then its an automatic lose. If you die, but the whole team was by your body, then yell "Attack my body!" This will let your team-mates know where the opposing team is. Also, if you regularly play with a certain group of peeps, just assign different parts of maps short names. A good example would be Construct. There are four parts of the main energy lift.

    1. The Flamethrower/Missile Pod spawn area lift entrance. Give this area a name like Yellow 1, as the lift colour is yellow.

    2. The floor above the first floor, with the hole in the floor to get to the bottom floor. Give this lift entrance the name Yellow 2.

    3. The ledge with the Brute Shot that hangs over the second floor. Give this entrance the name Yellow 3.

    4. Now I know by now you get the idea, but I am going to say this anyways. The very top floor next to the main lift. Give this EXIT from the lift the name Yellow TOP. You can also nickname the to corridors net to the exit Yellow Top Hall Right/Left.

Make sure that you yell "one shot!" if someone is near a player that is damaged. Also, if you die, tell your team the name of the guy (or girl, sorry) and the gun he used to kill you. This is helpful because if he had a shotgun, then your team can stay long range and pick out weapons to counter him with.

    Teh Kill Steal:.
This section should renamed, as there is no such thing as a kill steal. Say you have your Sniper aimed directly at some dudes head, but guess what, its life and someone else pulls the trigger on him and gets the kill before you. The truth is, he actually just either saved your life, or saved the team. You may have not gotten the kill, and in the end, your team may have lost by one kill, because your team-mate "didn't steal your kill."

    Grenade Placement:.

"Holyz crap! mahz grendade iz gon *** up short! Blawhhhh!!!"

    *sigh*

You probably have found your self getting totally f***ed, cause teh grenade you just threw? Yeah, it didn't do diddly ****. It actually ended up short and killed you teammate and counted for a kill for the other team, and then you were criticized for being the reason that your friend is locked in the playlist he's a 49 in. Yeah it happened to meh, not fun. Its about as fun as being in Tex's party for TGIF (love you Tex!). Haha, um, anyways, to help your grenade placement, have a friend move around and throw frags until your hands have the digital skin of the grenade rubbed off on them. Then move on to moving and throw, but with your friend still moving as well.

    Sniping:.
If you think your cool because you got a no-scope, save it for social. Usually players want to rank up, so don't try to be cool and attempt "teh no-scope". If you have the opportunity to "zoom" then do it. No one will ever no that you zoomed in either. Don't be afraid to no-scope a player in close combat, though. If you find yourself in a situation where you double zoom but your only couple feet away. Chances are, the only you can see are the ugly wrinkle between his eyebrow, and in the end you go "karboosh!". Just think strategy and distance and you will have a successful day with sniping.

    Teh End:.
Mmk, thats about it. Go be good at Halo now. If you have any other suggestions for players, just post them here.

If you all are just to occupied with Tex's pants party then wuhteveh. I just wanted to help SO F*** YOU! Sorry, I...I dont know what came over me there. Ju...Just leave m... me feedback. Tha... Thanks.

Nice guide, some of it seems obvious but I know how often people (including myself) look over simple things.
Overall a very nice guide but uhm... What's this about Tex?... ^.^

This is certainly a very good start. Communication is almost always the difference between a win and a loss.

Knowing map geometry is another key player trait. I have some really crazy frag tosses that catch many people off guard. Master a map's geometry and you'll have a great advantage.

Yeh - like did you know you can toss a frag nade from behind the yellow lift middle level up to the top of the yellow lift without throwing it up the lift?

    Here is a great multiplayer tips thread on xbox.com - Xbox.com | Xbox 360 Games - <~> Multiplayer Skills Guide V 2.0 <~>

Also, here as some tips I have:

    • Keep your cool - The game doesn't become easier when you're frustrated with your negative k/D, being relaxed and keeping your cool is the key to a good temper for winning.
    • Control - Creating a setup for map or weapon control is essential, but learning how to break an enemy set up is what is more important. (Example: On Guardian, you can prevent your enemies from obtaining the offensive edge by obtaining the sniper and blocked the hammer and lift, [this is if you spawn on elbow] also it is essential to run into green and grab camo before the enemy does. It is a pain to have your defenses broken by an invisible mauler / shotgun.
    • Power Weapons - Gain a head advantage on weapons that spawn in contested territory by learning typical routes. Lodge grenades to block off these pathways to delay the enemy from obtaining the power weapons. It is more important to take the contested weapons than the sniper that resides under your tower. (Example: The Pit)
    • Rusher no rushing - Grabbing the overshield at the beginning of a game on Guardian is a huge mistake. Allow the enemies to rush you, and then grab the overshield. Remember, elbow spawn has an overshield because blue spawn has a shotgun and mauler!
    • Take the wussy mode - In Slayer games it is crucial to keep your k/D up. Use teamwork and crossfire to your advantage. When shields are lost quickly run to cover and have teammates support you. Its not about just you getting kills.
    • Retaliation - Often I find myself having drained shields and being chased down around corners. I have learned a very proficient technique to turn the tides and win. When your shields are down, run around a stiff corner and bounce a grenade off the lower wall in front of you and back up. Your enemy will almost always run into it with hot pursuit. Now both of you are on the same playing field. Use crouch jumping here and gain a successful victory.
    • Tea-Bagging: A legitimate strategy - Teabagging, surprisingly, has been a very rewarding strategy. Although grotesque at times, it will turn your enemies attitude around and cause him to become frustrated and rush you. With the correct equipment or even a grenade or two, you have the upper hand.
