Here's a little something I've been working on Jax Basement 1.1 *Updated* Setting: "When the Arbiter and Master Chief struck their tentative alliance, a small group of Elites rendezvoused with a group of human scientists on the Ark to share knowledge and technology. They brought with them a small sampling of Brute technology along with their own so as to better understand their new enemy. On this remote installation, the tempers soon flared and the project was quickly shut down so as not to risk the fragile alliance." Jax Basement is set on the lowest level of Construct and is a symmetrical objective-based map. It is currently set up for Multi-Flag, Assault, Neutral Bomb and Team Oddball. This map would also make a very hectic Team Slayer map. Works well for Doubles and teams of 4 or 5 would (hopefully!) have a lot of fun here. There are currently no specific game variants. However I may produce some, based on feedback. There are currently no specific variants. However I may reduce the time needed to arm the bomb in Assault as the default seems to take a long time especially on such a small, hectic map. Points of interest: You can travel up the purple and gold lifts to make a quick escape from firefights. However, as soon as you reach the top you will be teleported straight back down into the centre of the map where there's no cover. In CTF, the enemy flag and the home return point are underneath the map on narrow and very precarious beams. They are accessed by teleporters set within each team's base. Teams must fight their way through to the enemy base, out onto the beams and return with the enemy flag. In Assault, each team's bomb spawns in the same place but the detonation point is in the enemy base next to the teleporter (so no planting the bomb and blocking the teleporter to stop the enemy disarming it!). The Neutral Bomb and the Oddball spawn in the open central room and must be placed in the enemy's base in the same place as in normal Assault. There is a shortcut to the enemy base, but instantly respawning falling fusion coils make this a dangerous route and will lower your shields to almost zero. Weapons: Each team has three Battle Rifles, two Assault Rifles, two SMGs, and a Covenant Carbine. Additionally in the central area there is a Gravity Hammer, Shotgun, two Maulers, two Plasma Rifles, Frag Grenades and Plasma Grenades. The Hammer and the Shotgun will only appear after the game has started. The Shotgun will respawn after 60 seconds and the Hammer after 90 seconds. I love it. Very original, very clean, nice ideas, good execution, beautiful post...if you have another one this good, apply to be a Guilder.
It does help if I add a link to the download, lol. http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=15471810
Now that is the #1 noobiest thing possible. Not posting a link to your map. Seen it happen multiple times
I agree that the idea is very original! Especially the idea about the flag locations. My customs game/map limit is maxed out but i might clear some out just for this map...
Re: Jax Basement v1.1 I recently revisited this map after playtests and have now uploaded a Link: release candidate. 4-8 players, suitable for: Multi-Flag Assault Neutral Assault Team Oddball Team Slayer Fixes: - A problem at the base of the flag beams when, if the teleporter was only just missed, you could get stuck on the teleporter and be unable to move but also unable to die on the death barrier (wall). - Closed hole on closed side ramp that allowed players to escape. (It may still be possible to escape, but is now so difficult that it's hardly worth it) - Fine tuned some weapon spawns. - Fine tuned team spawns and respawn areas. Known issues: - If more than one player goes through the teleporter to capture or return the flag then the teleporter becomes blocked and forces a loop. The loop is not perfectly straight and can force players off the beams to fall to their deaths. Maybe not so much an issue as an occupational hazard
Post an app now! You really have some potential here, very innotive. As soon as you find it in yourself to make another map or use a map that you have alreay in your midst, post an application.
Just incredible. Seeing someone with another brilliant idea for construct in a foundry dominant world makes me excited. You should really add that updated link to the map on your original posts. I thought you took it down for a second.
Basement Jaxx Tracklist Response: Where's Your Head at, making a map like this? Oh My Gosh, it looks interesting. Well you've got Good Luck, Romeo. I might have to DL, Plug It In, and then, Bingo Bango, we'll have an elite/human Rendez-Vu going on. U Don't Know Me, but, I Jump and Shout at maps like this. Read Alert! I'm gonna own people on this map so bad that the girls all give me Jus 1 Kiss. I thank my Lucky Star that you Do Your Thing. Keep on keepin' on, and live that Flylife... Also... Samba Magic. Click HERE for an explanation of this craziness.
Cheers, guys, didn't realise I'd had more feedback on this one. I might actually need to revisit this because apparently someone managed to break out at the top of the gold lift, but try as I might to recreate it, I just can't do it myself. If anyone else manages to break out I'd really like to hear about it because I tried my best to keep everyone in the basement but, as I'm sure you all know, the item limits on Construct are really strict (Love that reply, Cosmic!)
I like this a lot. The concept is neat and the design is original. Good work on the flag location as well. I'll dl this when I can.
