The new model will be coming out next month when they release updated versions of the ipod line. I'd wait until then because you're likely to see a storage bump (the 16gig ipod touch will now be $300 instead of $400). You're also likely to see external volume buttons introduced and possibly a camera. This is all speculation, but there will be an updated version released in September. Wait it out one more month.
I get one free with the macbook im going to buy I'd go with draw the line on this one, wait until the newest one comes out. My only concern would be price, i suppose if it's too expensive you could buy the older version for cheap.
Draw the Line, thank you so much! Best advice that actually has to do with my question =P That's awesome though! In just a month of waiting I can actually for once have something that my spoiled friends don't.
i had the same question about this... im buying a new one.. reaper just bought an 80gig basic ipod instead of buying a touch.. and my other friend has a touch and says i should get it.. i have a computer in my room so i don't really need to access the internet.. maybe to use MSN and stuff..
Now I got another choice.... A new computer and a crappy Ipod (Probably Shuffle, the only cool thing about that thing is the clip it has built in and it can hold 500 songs on 1 gig.) Or just a Ipod Touch..... Choices...... *Balls explode*
Hmmm.... iLick, some one has an idea to sell to apple. Deff get it, iTouch is awesome, I love mine. I use it all the time, typing is hard, thats why i know get iPhone, i send a couple thousand texts per month. Its pretty quick the 3G is better if ther is an itouch 3G
Well, I did some very interesting research. First off, there's this REALLY convenient tool I found I wish I'd did before. Here.. Scroll down to iPod Touch, it recommends, in big red text, "DO NOT BUY...UPDATES SOON!". Next, apparently, there are rumored feature updates coming to the iPod Touch, too. So, if you're looking to buy a Mac product, I'd check that website first. It seems to know what's up. It tells you exactly what to do, such as "Buy - Recently Released", "DO NOT BUY - UPDATES SOON", and "Buy only if you need it - approaching end of cycle".
The new prices are likely going to reflect the recent price drop of the iphone, so I'd expect for the new itouch to be cheaper. But this is my theory of what will happen to the itouch line: The 8 gig itouch will be dropped from the line completely. Apple likes to keep a clear division of products by their prices. If the 8 gig touch was even reduced to $250, it would harm the sales of the classic ipod. Apple has also been giving away their 8 gig touch stock with the purchase of a new mac....which means that they're trying to get rid of whatever stock they have left. The 16 gig touch will drop to the $300 price mark, replacing the old 8 gig model. The 32 gig ipod will drop in price to $400 where the 16 gig touch once sat. In January 2009, a 64 gig touch will be introduced to liven the touch market until the updated model later in September. No problem! I was going to pick one up about a month ago, but I did my research and decided to wait until the new touch came out.
So the only thing that's really changing is the storage for the price? Well, that's not so bad. I mean, I'd take 16GB over 8GB any day. But I also read that there are rumors of new features and a possible redesign...did you hear anything about that?
The back of the itouch will likely look more like new iPhone, although I'd expect it to keep the chrome backing to seperate itself from the iphone design. Or they could even offer it in white and black like the iphone will soon be doing. As far as additional features goes, I'd expect external volume buttons like those found on the iphone and the slight possibility of a camera. These have all been rumors though, I can't really guarantee any of those claims. I really think we'll see external volume buttons introduced, which will be nice when you have the ipod in your pocket.
do not get one if ur gonna get something like that get an iPhone in fact I'm posting from my iPhone right now in the car they r much better
Sounds cool. I'm glad I'll have to wait for it, it gives me time to save up the rest of the money I need (if the cheapest model is still $299). -.- As stated before in the topic, I don't want an iPhone. I have a cell phone, I want an iPod Touch.
Well my brother has a ipod touch . And it looks pretty good .. The touch screen is good and you can go on the internet and stuff .. But you'll never know if another ipod is gonna come out until it does unless they announce a release date ..
I've updated the front post with the link and Draw the Line's posts in hopes to help others. Thanks to everyone who helped!
no they absolutly suck and there no good the screens break on them and they have to many bugs just try to avoid it
Um...the reviews I've read are great...and I've watched countless videos on YouTube of people scratching their iPod Touches with keys, razors and a ton of other shiny stuff. I've even seen a video where a person threw their iPod Touch rather hard down a sidewalk and it only took a couple of scratches. Other than that it was perfectly fine.
