Kidding, Phelps is a competitor and a great swimmer, but I have never seen an athlete like Bolt. The man runs a 100m race in 41 steps and runs the equivalent of a 3.54 seconds 40 yard dash as he set the world record of 9.69 seconds with a less than perfect start and started to cruise with 20 meters left in the race. Plus, the 200m race is his best event, and the guy is 6'5". Jesus, put the guy in pads and see if he can run a slant. I hope he keeps his head on straight and stays/is clean because he is a special athlete.
He definatly could have got a much better time. The past 15-20 meters he slowed down, looked around and beat his chest. But yeah he's pretty amazing.
Yeah i couldn't believe he did that! You should of finished the race then celebrated! He would of SMASHED the world record!
I thought he was extremely arrogant for not finishing strong, but after hearing his interview (where he walked in with a powerbar and ate it throughout the questions), I learned that he is Jamaican, and Jamaican's are just really chill. He didn't exactly handle himself professional, but hopefully, he learns to finish strong in the finals, so we can see a sub 9.6. I know he only cares about winning gold, but he is going to look back 10 years from now and regret not crushing the record. People are also saying he didn't run his hardest, so he wouldn't smash the record and start wondering if he used performance enhancers. Although he isn't Ben Johnson huge, you have to wonder if there are drugs involved when someone just crushes a record without trying.
I think that he is a piece of malarky for not finishing strong, if I was his coach I would make him run for a day staight, and take away his medal
ah but water has more resistance so its tougher swimming is a sport which vitally uses more of the body but bolt is way cooler, running>swimming
During his 200 qualifier they replayed it and he wasn't trying, he was more focused on talking to the guy next to him. and he still qualified. but still its pretty crazy looking at his 3.54 and my 5.3
Wow. Amazing, that's amazing. He was probably training from his birth to do something like this. Great. Another evil machine.
A slant how bout flat out hail maries or sweeps lol. But yea this dude's just unbelievable, he totally murdered the record and think about it, in four more years worth of training, as in the next olmypics, he could come back and destroy that record too. I couldn't believe how quickly he put everyone in the dust after that bad start, too I mean c'mon, that's not even fair!
I said slant because that would mean he has to be able to catch the ball and take a hit from a safety. If he had the strength to get off the line when he's jammed and do the above, he could make a sick WR. If I was a coach, I would at least give him a try because speed like that doesn't come around very often if ever. The problem with him is that he doesn't have great starts, so his track speed might not translate well to football speed (quickness, acceleration, agility). That would not be a smart decision since he would still have other events to run in.
