I tried to follow a tutorial where I use the smudge tool, and it I start using it and it did nothing at all. WTF? Any other suggestions on how to learn?
You understand that you can only smudge a layer with something on it, right? It's not like the brush tool in that sense. Maybe take a screenshot of all the settings that are displayed when you have the smudge tool selected?
I was on the background layer? edit: nevermind, I was on the original render layer and it's working now. Well, not really. It doesn't look like the one in the tut
Go toooo.... 1. Window (Dropdown at the top of PS) 2. Brushes. That should open up a new mini-window where you can screw around with brush settings.
ahh, well I got something that looked a little bit close to his before doing that, so I'll probably do that.
My cousin had the same problem. He was using the blur tool. You have to click and hold that box and three different tools will show up. The smudge tool is the finger and the blur tool looks like a drop of water.
i would say read the manual but i dunno if you purchased the program or you um yea... anyway try a site like this and get a grasp of the basics before you try doing more complicated stuff. its a learning process. link : 60 Basic Photoshop Tutorials Free
