After being asked several times about infractions, I've decided to give everyone some more information about them. Here is one of the messages I sent to someone. PLEASE NOTE: I WAS NOT GIVING THIS GUY AN INFRACTION, I JUST NEEDED TO TAKE THE PICTURE!
this is very helpful. go grif stray clear of anything that would lead to any one of these, people. kthanksbai.
ooooh now I know everything >. lol 20 days for map theft. Funny stuff. This is helpful and good to know now, thanks.
It hurts peoples feelings a lot if you tell them that they "epicly fail" or that their map fails. I have had to report people for being mean like that.
I have had so many spam post infractions .. Well 2 but yeah =] Dude how come i keep getting gray rep when they give me good rep? 4 people gave me good rep for sigs and they were all gray .. ?
So to clear this up...say I get an infraction for...A bad title. Does this infraction 'expire' after 3 days meaning that it gets wiped? Or will it always stay there...? Just a tad confused.
Like if I put, 'THIS MAP FAILS' in a map thread. And a necropost is when you bump an old thread back to the top.
Thanks for necropost definition...I used to call that Gravedigging. I thought necropost was something along the lines of racism posts. :embarassed:
That's why we have the ability to report posts. I do it all the time. You'd be surprised how many people Necro Post
As of late I've noticed an exponential increase in infractions. Many are understandable. For instance double or triple posts, (Yes I was guilty of that in the past and it was my fault), insulting another user or the like. But I have seen (thankfully not recieved) a number of infractions that Should Not Have Been. For the most part these tend to be infractions labeled as spam posts. What I cannot understand is how these posts constitute spam. They are positive, often enthusiastic comments about a map or user. Granted, the content of the post may be similar, in some cases even identical to those preceding it, but not everyone reads the posts prior to theirs. Others simply don't think through their posts very much. Yes, that is their fault, but they shouldn't get infracted for it. They post, browse the site for a few minutes and them BAM! Infraction. Something is wrong. Either the rules are ambigous and/or need to be clarified, or someone is abusing their power (which, unless I am mistaken, is against the rules). Even if this is as small percentage of the infractions being meted out, it needs to come to a screeching halt. As to necro posts, say someone sees a map in someone's sig that hasn't been viewed in a while and they like it. They get an infraction for posting in that thread!? If a thread gets buried in a matter of hours because of a high post day, someone can get an infraction for posting in it!? That is just plain wrong. I can see why people are leaving FH. They have to walk on freakin eggshells - without touching them.
