Has anyone really thought about how big the crapload of money is that Blizzard gets from WoW? Let me show you: $180 X 10 million people (and counting) = $1.8 billion PER YEAR, not including the millions of expansion packs people have bought for $40 and $30 each + all the other stuff you can buy from them. What company needs that per year, from one game? Oh, and this isn't a complaint-ish, I just thought about this.
Im not sure where you got the 180 from but.. You can download WoW offline for free. Then buy an activation key which is like 20 dollars, then to activate an account you have to buy the membership, which is like 15 a month. So thats only like 40 pretty much. So 40 x 10 million
I used to play WoW, although I stopped now. I mean when WoW talks about 10 million people playing, there talking about all the accounts made, Ever! This means, if you made that 10 day free trial account, it still counts as an accounts, as one of those 10 million. So to really think about it, all the inactive accounts really take WoW population to about 6-7 million. And not everyone pays, if you know what I mean... So to really think about it, WoW did make a really good game, but it also ruined ALOT of people's lives... Good post, it really made me think... 5/5
The servers and the site cost alot of money, considering how many people play WoW. They're profiting, but not as much as you think.
