HISTORY WAS MADE, AND I WATCHED IT Michael Phelps WAS THE FIRST PERSON EVER IN OLYMPIC HISTORY TO GET 8 GOLD MEDALS. GO USA (Aug. 16) -- Move over, Mark Spitz. With a narrow victory for the US men's swimming team in the 400-meter individual medley, Phelps wins his eighth gold medal of the Beijing Olympics, breaking Spitz's 26-year-old record for golds in a single Games.
I just watched. He's amazing. He looks really tired, but that race wasn't as close as the one before. Lucky number eight.
hmm as far as i know its twelve.. i saw the listings for most golds somewhere.. i thought it was 12! oh well either way he is crazy
Man. Some people don't believe he can do this stuff, but when you do literally nothing but swim your entire lifetime, I guess you can be surprised with what you can accomplish.
Well I think he has 14 Golds over all but he got 8 in just this Olympics, the other ones were from 2004.
8 is kind of a nice number for Phelps. The olympics started 08-08-08, and he won 08 medals. He also got a $1 million dollar bonus with Speedo for doing it. He has 14 Gold Medals, and 2 Bronze.
not to take anything away from this guy he has done well but its not right to be calling him the greatest athlete ever because as carl lewis said "if i could do the 100m backwards or freestyle i would have more medals" or something like that i was in the pub when i saw it my point is that all his medals are for swimming which is basiclly the same thing
Although maybe not the "greatest athlete" per se...He IS the greatest Olympian. I guess you could debate about being in the Olympics means your one of the best in the world, and then winning 8 gold medals against the best in the world, well, means your the best in the world, (in that category of course).
