Okay so i've already made it hard enough on this map im making for the attacking team to plant the bomb, they basically have to kill eveyone in the base to plant it. Theres just a few things that I can't decide on. The defending team definetly has more advantages. Slight weapon advantages. MUCH more cover. They can shoot from inside of the building at the defending team. Their is only one disadvantage... They're trapped inside of the base. The concept is to make it hard to plant the bomb, but I was considering this: When you are killed on the defending team you cannot respawn, or you have a much long respawn time. This would seem to make it more even in a way. Also the attacking team must make it to the roof to get inside of the building, which brings me to my next ordeal... How do I allow the attacking team to gain access too the roof? I could make it obvious and lay out a gravity lift, but then wheres the fun in that? My next idea is I could place gravity lifts that they must deploy in their base. But the problem with gravity lifts is this... its EXTREMELY hard to reach the roof with them... They just barely cut short. So then I was thinking what if I make floating platforms that you could use to jump up to it, but im out of single walls... So if you guys could give me some suggestions we may be able to see this map release by this weekend. I'm working really hard on it. Anyway post your thoughts on this sticky situation =)
holy crap, is this the pentagon map again? three threads for the same map...when the map hasn't even been released yet? this is just getting to the point of ridiculous. i really hope it isn't. but considering your talking about assault, it probably is...
no this is a different map, I already have a solid idea layed out for that but i made like this multi level box type deal and plan to use sort of the same idea, but since this one is much taller the grav lifts dont lift you all the way up.... and you never know i might use an idea that someone suggests on the pentagon map.... depends on if i like it better than what i already have set up im stuck =/
from what I understand, you built a base, with the only way in being to jump down with the bomb from above. Well, as far as the defenders being trapped, you could always make a teleporter, putting them above the map where they could either jump back down or stay up there, where they would have a turret/snipe. I thought of a one-way to send them into the battle, but considering how good the base is, and the fact that they are defense, going in would be stupid. If it just teleports you to a high platform, you are still protected from closerange, and can jump down to the safety of the base. Also, there are a few things you can use to replace fence walls. I'm assuming this is foundry, so you could use some of the 6 windows, the doors, fence walls, sign a/b, use a single box as the platform, a roadblock or barrier, bridge, whatever. And, I see what you mean, wheres the fun in just throwing down a mancannon.... solutions make them deploy gravlifts, and use an alternate object for a platform make the offense have to fight their way up a series of ramps to get to the roof. anyway, that's what i thought of
Yeah...about that.... I'd say that they sound and will most likely look the same. I'd say go fourth with your idea.
The teleporter seems like the best bet for this. But if you don't want to use that, you can take a man cannon, and flip it on it's side so that it is facing in a direction almost vertical, and put it against the side of the building, then put a fance on top of it so it can't fall down, kinda like pinning it to the wall with the fence, and viola, taller grav lift.
Hold a reciever in the air close to head height of a Spartan and save the game. It will stay floating when you come back and place a pallet on top of it. Do this for many platforms but make sure all of hte platforms you can jump too execept for the first one. That way someone has to stay behind and let people jump on top of his head. put some deployable covers on the pallets so the sniper/turret on top of the base won't get a easy overkill.
I dont want it to look all sloppy... See I was thinking more along the lines of just setting up a spot on the side that people can go to and drop deployable gravity lifts, this way they're elevated enough for the gravity lifts to reach the top, you avoid the sloppy-ness and the obviousness.... How about that?
I have an idea, I'm not sure if it will work exactly, but it just might, here goes. You would need some kind of solid scenery, such as a dumpster, then you would use the floating object technique to place the grav lift at the height needed to reach the roof. Then use the interlocking technique and have the grav lift suspended above the ground, we both know it will fall to the ground, but by delaying it's respawn, and placing a object that reaches right at or a little higher than it, you might be able to create a different looking object that will blend with the wall, but have a grav lift coming out of it's core. I haven't tested this, but I think I will.
