I recently was thinking of making a Machineima...But i wasnt sure about legel rights(if i am allowed to or not) turns out...NO you cant unless you have a commercial license but they are hard to get (the writer of the page was only aware of one, RVB) i was wondering what peoples thoughts are.
I don't know, I've seen a lot of others besides Red vs. Blue. Are you sure it doesn't mean that you can't make money off any of it unless you have a commercial license?

I didnt read it, but it probably only means u cant make money off it. If it was completely illegal, a lot of people would have gotten in trouble by now.
First of all, Its Machinima....It stands more Machine Cinema I belive. Second of all, Microsoft stated that you are allowed to make machinima with game that they have licensced but as long as you make it purely G rated, use all of your own sounds, do not make anything that has to do with the storyline of the game, no making money off of it, no asking for donations for it, you can't make it so sponsors get the episode/movie before everyone else and some other things like no modding and stuff. So basically your screwed although a lot of people still make machinima without their own sounds and stuff like that I havn't seen anything been done about it.... Blizzard also released rules about their games but they are much more layed back...I wish Microsoft was.

Microsoft hasn't done anything against anyone... evar. At least about machinima. And... I mean... H3 = bungie. Bungie = no longer microsoft. Those rules = only apply to microsoft games... >.>
Its perfectly legal, and the sound things only apply to other microsoft games, besides halo, if you read the fine print on the xbox.com website, it clearly sates, marty gives you full rights to use any sound in halo for your video. Making a machinima using a 360 game is legal in every way, but you can not make money off it.
I c. Well, I'll try my hardest to make WoH look cool. But you won't see WoH episodes on YouTube until either mxyzptlk 101, DEMONSLAYER622, or I get a capcard.
Thats is sort of true considering Bungie is no longer part of Microsoft still owns Halo 3 All games that Bungie makes will not be licensed under Microsoft but rather Bungie.
