So sure Halo 3 is a really great shooter but is it the best of all time? This includes shooters that date way back to the good ole days of the classic consoles. Post what you think is the greatest shooter and why. I can't wait to see what you guys think!
I am going to say Gears of War as well... It had great everything and I can't wait until the second one comes out because I think it will be just as good or even better than Gears of War...
Halo 1. Not much to say there. I still play it, its fun, its balanced, it has good maps. Also its a classic.
Lol FPS noobs. Let me take us back... Duke Nukem 3D. It was amazing. Great levels, tons of baddies, wicked and inventive weapons (especially given the old hardware limitations), great gameplay, awesome one-liners, and a fan base that's survived for well over a decade. Plus, I can sit down and start playing the game again all these years later. Not many other games hold up like that for this long. After that, I've got to give it to Half-Life. Whoops Halo any day of the week.
GOW, are you people retarded? Sure the graphics and SP were great, but the campaign was like 6 hours and the online was shitty. Halo CE ftw.
I would say COD4... Not because of multiplayer... But if you play it no Veteran it is very realistic... You die soooo fast... Mabye it's not the best shooter, but it is the most realistic and possible to beat... Unlike Vegas... And once again I post under HittheLightz make sure to read his sig... I lolz

God, UT was epic. It's gotta be the best MP FPS, but my favorite FPSes are SP primarily. They've never been able to replicate the feel of the original, so I just don't play UT 2003/4 or UT3. They're just so much less fun.
COD series, Halo series... those were all good. Doom was great. The original was just mind-blowing at the time. I still haven't found all the secret rooms LOL. See I'm a person who can see whats good and whats bad, but I'm horrible at "favorites" or "best".
Classic Halo CE is the best FPS in my opinion. It's fun, balanced, and the game that made the Xbox console take off. I still play it every now and again.
I highly disagree, Call Of Duty 4 is best online multiplayer and best graphics. Have you played CoD4?
Obviously most of the people here are FPS noobs. I have only heard one mention....of GOLDENYEYE! thats not even very old. Anyway I would have to say perfect dark for the n64 it took the FPS theme that doom created and just made it better in every aspect. But for the time doom was amazing....truly. (before anybody says anything about goldeneye perfect dark and goldeneye use the same physics engine so its almost the exact same game.)
Timesplitters... 3, I think. It's an amazing, amazing party game. Loadsa maps, loadsa weapons, loadsa customisation, and loadsa monkeys. Such a good game, can't wait for TS4.
Either UT3 or Halo 3 (I only play on 360 and PS2). UT3 has TONS of vehicles TONS of characters to choose from TONS of maps per GAMETYPE The coolest weapons + Balance Mutators (Low grav, super beserk, ect) Great graphics Every fight is action packed instead of who 4 shotted who first No fire from hip 4 Player Co-op even though the campaign levels suck Splitscreen online (Up to 2) Halo 3 has Great online that has people playing in every lobby all day Many gametypes Many custom game configurations which is why I'm addicted to it as much as other people who play MM Tons of style of play (Chillaxin, or MLG, ect) Plenty of maps (Only some are great though) Tons of cool weapons + balance no fire from hip FORGE Theater - The best playback on any form of entertainment ever (How many games let you go through the entire map while watching?) 4 Player online co-op Splitscreen online up to 4 I would say COD4 but I'm only addicted to it and addiction doesn't = greatness, look at runescape. But it has the best single player its like watching a movie.
