Map name: Chaos Theory Type: All Gametypes Original Map: Foundry Authors: TheBadgerWithin, with help from Devilfinch and FrumpyFalcon Download Map (New - VERSION 3) Changes from V1 Added trip mine and regnerator and flare Added radar jammer for 1 sided games Replaced wire spool with door Completed all gametypes Hello! Now, before we begin, I'd like to apologize for the very generic name for the map, but I wasn't in a name mood . Anyways, this is something that I came up with after playing a map by my brother and his friend, in which they had just thrown objects around in foundry, creating a close quarters environment that looked like a tornado stricken area. Unfortunately, by the time I joined their forge game, the map was too complex to be playable properly (Some areas were far too hard to reach, some were blocked off etc.) and it was impossible to move some objects without destroying the map, so I told them I'd take that concept and try to make it work as a playable space. I didn't bother throwing stuff down randomly however. I tried to make it look like I had, but most of the stuff in there is deliberate and has a purpose. I ended up using all the budget trying to fit everything in, so I'm hoping everything works well. The map only plays slay at the moment, I will be making all other gametypes available shortly. For slayer, you can use the default everything, however due to the close-quarters nature of the map, sword or shotgun variants work well. The weapons on the map include the obligatory BRs, as well as dual-weldable weapons for close-quarter battles. The shotgun spawns on the forklift lying on its side at the highest point of the map, and contains only 6 shots to balance out its usefulness on the map. To counter the shotgun, you can find not only lots of spike grenades, but a brute shot. I have some screenies, but I'm not very good at taking shots, and I found it difficult to get a shot that gave an overview of the map and what it might be like, due to the 'cluttered' nature of the map. There are a couple of overhead shots, but please note that all of foundry has been used, so some areas cannot be seen in them. NOTE- the following shots are from version 1. An Overview (Doesn't Show much but the shottie spawnpoint is on the left) One of the most open areas Near one of the 'bases' on the Foundry map Active Camo Spawn A narrow corridor I get shotgun'd in another corridor Again, I don't think the screenshots don't do the map justice. But whatever. If you download, please give some pointers on how to improve, as the map is only V1 so far. Thanks
Wow thats awesome. You've done well making it look like someones trashed the place, but i can see that all the peices have a reason to being there.
my god man, this does look a mess, normally i avoid thi stype of map, but for some reason it looks like it could play quite well, Q'd
Sweet, I had an idea similar to this once. It looks very well put together (as well as a trashed placed can be put together). I try and remember to DL when I get my box back.
you should consider posting a youtube flythrough of the map to help better show the level and how it plays out. Looks cool though.
Yeah, unfortunately my capture device wont capture PAL-60, so I can't get any footage. I'd buy another one, but I'm out of cash.
Normally I don't think most people like trashed around maps. But just for the sake of using an oxymoron, this is truly a great organized mess. The best I've seen so far. Nicely done.
Wow, this map actually looks cool to me. I'll download. Also, I have a great name for your map: Badger Hole! (Do badgers live in holes? :squirrel_giggle
I'll work on getting a vid up on my fileshare soon, but I think I'm almost done making it compatible with all gametypes (I managed to screw up territories the first time round :squirrel_wtf.
I checked this out in Forge, mostly because I was looking for anything different. I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised. The layout looks pretty good, and I bet it is really fun to play Slayer in. Nice job. But I was able to get out near one of the locker rooms where you have a wire spool blocking the path. You can just crouch jump over it. Not a big deal, but if you want to keep people in the large room I suggest switching the wire spool with a door. Also, from what I remember weapons seemed to be a little scarce. I remember seeing a BR, a Shotgun, a couple Brute Shots, and dual Spikers, that's it.
Well, maybe whoever downloads it can just change the weapon count and type around, fix the door themselves if they want to play it until he comes out with a better version (if he does). I must say this looks fairly good. I will queue it.
From memory, weapon count is: 2x Plasma Rifles 2x SMG 1x Brute Shot 1x Shotgun 2x Spikers 2x Magnum and about 5xBR (I think) If you have any suggestions on the weps, please post away. I thought some might be a little too powerful for close range. I'm considering the sword as a counter to the shotgun. Wire spool is replaced in the version I'm working on
I haven't tried this yet, but from the pictures, it looks pretty decent. It does look like there'd be too much jumping to get around. You might try interlocking more objects to make a smoother (as much as you can) run around the map.
I disagree with Rick on this one. You can almost never have too much jumping. Nothing is better than jumping across a gap and sticking someone far away in mid air. Jumping makes for some epic fights.
I just played Team Slayer here tonight. I liked it. I thought it was refreshingly different. However, not everyone liked it. One player said, "this map makes my eyer hurt." Lol, I don't know if it's that ugly. The chief complaints were that it got old (climb to the top, shoot people who are hopelessly lost below you), and that while you're running around you bump up against some random thing laying on the ground and you can't move. It's really frustrating when you're strafing to dodge bullets and you get hung up on some scenery and die. The game was intense, coming down to the last kill, but that could have happened on any map. I say clean it up a little, like removing random things that you would walk into. That would make it a great map, but right now it's just a fun diversion. P.S. King of the Hill might be fun here.
Thanks for the help. I'm going to have a look and try and clear out some of the things like you suggested, this should give me a bit more budget to work with, and maybe I can get a few fusion coils on the top levels, so people are more vulnerable up there. I'm just about to go upload the current version with all gametypes playable, as well as some extra stuff like equipment. Just out of interest, how many people were playing the team slayer game? EDIT: Download Map (New - VERSION 3) Changes from V1 Added trip mine and regnerator and flare Added radar jammer for 1 sided games Replaced wire spool with door Completed all gametypes
A flare... nice! In this map you really need to see to know where you are going. The flare is gonna mess up a lot of people. My game was five person Team Slayer, me and a guy vs. three players.
